 Part I
• The first part of the story tells us about Evelyn Glennie.
• At a small age of 8 she started having hearing issues but Evelyn Glennie
at the Age of 11 It was confirmed that she had loss all.

• She never gave up and wanted to learn Music, Ron
Forbes a Percussionist, helped her a lot in the learning
of music.
• He helped her to learn music not through hearing but
through vibrations.
• Evelyn had learnt to open her mind and body to sounds
and vibrations.
• She never looked behind from that point onwards. Ron Forbes
• At the age of sixteen, She wanted to
peruse music for her entire life.
• She auditioned for the Royal Academy of
Music and Scored the highest marks in the
history of that academy.
• When she plays the xylophone, she can
listen to its music through the finger tops.
• When she plays the drums she can hear the
music in the form of beats in her heart.
•  In 1991 she was awarded the Royal
Philharmonic Society’s prestigious Soloist
of the Year Award.
• Apart from concerts, she gives free
performances in the Hospitals and Prisons.
 Part 2
• The second part of the story tells us about
Ustad Bismillah Khan.
• He was born in Dumraon in Bihar
• He had interest in music since his childhood
• He accompanied his uncle to the Vishnu temple
of Banaras where his uncle performed Ustad Bismillah Khan

• Looking at the way that his uncle performed,

he also started practicing the instrument
• At the age of fourteen, Bismillah accompanied
his uncle to the Allahabad Music conference
Shehnai
• The opening of the All-India Radio in Lucknow in 1938 became
a starting point for him.
• He played the shehnai on 15th August 1947 on the Red Fort
during India’s Independence.
• He was awarded with awards like Padma Bhushan and Padma
Vibhushan.
• He also received the highest Indian civilian award in 2001
• He wants to teach other children and is a big role-model
himself.
