8
MB REV.02 2006
6 Cylinder Crankshaft Vibration Damper
& Tone wheel.
The 6 cylinder engine utilises a fluid filled
damper.

The damper and tone wheel is a one piece

component and is located onto the
crankshaft by a single dowel pin, so it can
only be installed one way.

The damper is stamped with TDC marks.

(The engine is at TDC 1and 6 cylinder when
the stamped mark is in the 12 o’clock
position).

At present no dimple or markings are on

the front cover.
( This may change for production intent
engines).

 Will still have internal baffling under
the rocker lever cover and exit the
rear of the rocker lever cover.

 Baffling should not be removed for

service

 Some rocker lever covers have the

baffling riveted in place, removal is
not necessary

 breather connection tube from the

rocker lever cover to the rear gear

Lubricating Oil Pan

– the Standard option will be a suspended oil

pan

– An oil pan that uses a paper gasket will be

an option
• Typical Capacities
– 15 quarts (6 cylinder)

There will be increased capacity oil pan

options available
• These oil pans will use sealant only
– Typical Capacities
» 25 quarts (6 cylinder)

QSB 6.7 Air Intake Manifold

 The QSB 6.7 intake manifold is a 2-

piece design with a captive
capscrew.

Details on servicing the captive

capscrew:
-Must be removed last.
-Must be installed first, but only finger
tight, then install the other 5
capscrews and torque all in
sequence.

 The air intake manifold provides a

location for the TMAP sensor and
the Ambient Air Pressure (AAP) Captive capscrew
sensor. (no longer strapped to the
wiring harness)

34
MB REV.02 2006
Intake manifold

The grid heater element is located in the inlet

side of the Intake manifold.
The element is located by the electrical terminal
which passes through the Inlet manifold.

 Exhaust manifolds will offer 4 turbocharger positions

 LMRO, LMFO, HMRO, HMFO
 Pictures of the HM manifolds are on the following slides, because they are

 QSB 6.7 turbo information  QSB 4.5 turbo information

 Turbochargers are both  Turbochargers are all

wastegated and non-wastegated wastegated.
 QSB 6.7 ratings below 160 hp
uses non-wastegated turbo.
 Various comp. cover
 QSB 6.7 ratings above 160 hp orientations and TB options.
uses wastegated turbo.
 Various comp. cover orientations
and TB options.  Turbochargers cannot be re-
 oriented in the field, as the
Certain (higher) ratings require
machined from solid (MFS) wastegate mounts to both
compressor impellers. compressor and turbine
housings.
