• To explains understanding of the various contemporary
art forms.
• To describes the various contemporary art forms and their
practices from the various regions
• To perform one of the various art forms based on the
region of his/her choice through visual or performing arts.

• A form of performing arts is the theater and films. Both
theater and films uses stories that capture the
imagination of people. It is a good form of
entertainment

Skills, Techniques and Production in
Contemporary Arts

• Many contemporary artists do not have formal studies


in the fine arts but are self –taught. Concerned with the
development of their talent and skills in art making,
they study on their own, interact with artists and read a
lot about lives of artists and their artworks
Type of Techniques
• Collage
- An artistic composition made of various materials (such
as paper, cloth, or wood) glued on a surface cut pictures
from magazines to make a collage.
- A creative work that resembles such a composition in
incorporating various materials or elements the album
is a collage of several musical styles.
Decalcomania
• The process of transferring designs from prepared
paper on to glass or porcelain.
• A technique used by some surrealist artists which
involves pressing paint between sheets of paper.
Decoupage
• The art of decorating surfaces by applying cutouts (as of
paper) and then coating with usually several layers of
finish (such as lacquer or varnish)
Frottage
• The technique or process of taking a rubbing from an
uneven surface to form the basis of a work of art.
• The practice of touching or rubbing against the clothed
body of another person in a crowd as a means of
obtaining sexual gratification.
Trapunto
• The word “Trapunto” is derived from the Italian word
“to embroider,” a form of quilting. Artists pain their
work(s) on the canvas and then apply a layer of cotton
batting and a layer of backing. On the painted face of
the canvas, after stitching, recycled objects found from
all walks of life are applied on the canvas.
Digital Applications
• Is work made with digital technology or presented on
digital technology. This includes images done completely
on computer or hand-drawn images scanned into a
computer and finished using a software program like
Adobe Illustrator. Digital art can also involve animation
and 3D virtual sculpture renderings as well as projects that
combine several technologies. Some digital art involves
manipulation of video images.
