    History of blood transfusion

     1665-The first recorded successful blood


    transfusion: Physician Richard Lower keeps
    dog alive by transfusing blood from other
    dogs.
     1832-The first human to human blood
    transfusion
     1902-There are all known blood types
     1909-The first transfusions considering
    blood type were made
     1937-The first ever blood bank was opened
     1939 -The Rh blood group system is
    discovered by Karl Landsteiner, Alexander

     Old Egyptians thought that if they had


    drunk sheep's blood they would have
    been treated, so a flock of sheep always
    followed the herds of Egyptian warriors.
    The Egyptians treated the wounded with
    sheep blood.
     In 1667 Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Denis
    transferred blood from a sheep to a 15-
    year old boy which had blood disease.
    The boy survived. In fact society still
    was feard of blood transfusion. Becouse
    of that in france blood transfusion was
    illegal.
    Blood types

     There are four common types of blood


    type ( O, A , B , AB )
     There is a protein called Rh and because
    of that in the world the are 8 type of
    blood
     The universal red cell donor has Type O
    negative blood.
     The universal plasma donor has Type AB
    blood.

     35% 32.30% 11.90% 6.00%

    O- A- B- AB-
     6.00% 5.70% 2.10% 1.00%
    Blood bank

     Blood bank is a place where people are


    donating blood and then it is used by ill
    people.
     About 36,000 units of blood are needed
    every day.
     About 6.8 million volunteers are blood
    donors each year.
     Blood bank also inspects blood and blood
    disease
