EDUCATIONAL
ADMINISTRATION
INTRODUCTION
Administration is a process of systematically arranging and
coordinating the human and material resources available to
any organization for the main purpose of achieving stipulated
goals of that organization .
Educational Administration is the process of bringing men
and materials together for effective and functional teaching
and learning in the school. Administration is a term used to
refer more to government business. Administration occurs in
every organization.
MEANING
Educational Administration is regarded as the process
integrating the appropriate human and material
resources that are made available and made effective for
achieving the purpose of a programme of an educational
institution.
The term Administration doesn’t refer to any single
process or act . It is like a broad umbrella
It encomposing a number of process such as :
planning,organizing,directing,coordinating,controlling,
evaluating the performance.
DEFINITIONS
“Administration is the capacity to coordinate many
and often conflicting social energies in a single
organism ,so adroitly that they shall operate as a
unit” - Brook Adams
“All those techniques and procedures employed in
operating the educational organisation in accordance with
established policies as defines as administration - Good
Educational Administration is to enable the right pupils
to receive the right education from the right teachers at a
cost within the means of the state, under conditions
which will enable the pupils best to profit by their training

NATURE OF EDUCATIONAL
ADMINISTRATION
Educational administration doesn’t refer to any single
process rather different process or aspects constitute
administration.
Educational Administration is a non-profit making task.
It is primarily a social enterprise as it is more concerned
with human resources than with material resources.
It is similar to general administration in many
ways ,but it is also dissimilar to general administration in
more ways.
Objectives of Educational Administration
1. To provide proper education to students
2. To ensure adequate utilization of all resources
3. To ensure professional Ethics and professional
development among teachers
4. To mobilize the community
5. To get the work done
6. To ensure qualitative improvement of education

Good education doesn’t mean education at a very high
cost as is practiced in modern public schools
Right type of education from the right type of teachers
within the reasonable cost
It implies quantitative expansion and qualitative
improvement of education.

resources
For adequate realization of the various purposes of
educational programme there is the need of ensuring
adequate utilization of all available resources- human,
material and financial.
3.To ensure professional Ethics and
professional development among teachers
All teachers are the senior and mature human
elements to accelerate the programme in time their
role is highly felt in this regard.
 The teachers are to be encouraged and given the
facility to devise and try out innovative ideas on
instruction and to participate in-service education
programme.
Educational administration should aim at
developing a desire for hard work , dedication
and commitment for their job among teachers
4.To mobilize the community

Educational administration seeks to maintain and


improve the relations with the community.
It should seek community support and cooperation for
quantitative expansion, qualitative improvement ,
smooth and fair examination in the educational
system
5.To get the work done

The most important objective of administration is to


get the work done effectively, efficiently and with
satisfaction to the individual and benefits to the
society.
To train the students in developing scientific
attitude and objective outlook among them
towards all aspects and activities of life.
o prepare students for taking their places in
various vocations and avenues of life.
6. To ensure qualitative improvement of education
Good education can be provided to students by
bringing qualitative improvement in instruction.
Regular supervision of teaching and guidance of
teachers help to ensure quality teaching in schools.
IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATIONAL
ADMINISTRATION
Organizations are essential and it is impossible to
avoid the influence of different types of organizations
on human life.
Administrators can perform useful functions within
organizations.
Educational organizations and their administrations
have some unique characteristics that deserve
distinctive treatment.
Knowledge and understanding of organizational
behaviour, both internal and external could enable an
administrator to act more effectively.
For the purpose of becoming an effective leader or
manager who is in charge of an educational institution
needs to be familiar with the theoretical concepts and best
practises relating to educational administration.
AIMS OF EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION
Educational administration aims at the good of
education.
Educational administration should aim at providing high
chairs to the best fitted persons.
School administration should aim at providing proper
facilities , freedom and encouragement to the
meritorious teachers.
Integration , not division should be the aim of
school administration.
The administrative authorities must understand
mass psychology.
School administration should aim at encouraging
direct democracy in schools.
School administration should aim at giving justice.
Persons in the key posts should play the real role of
educational administrators.
School administration should aim at implementing the
educational plans in an efficient and effective manner.
CONCLUSION
Educational administration has a vast area of operating
ranging from planning to budgeting in an effort to make the
educational process purposive and functional. We can
conclude by saying that education management in this
modern world is very necessary for a smooth running and
growth of a healthy educational institutions .It should be
noted that an efficient education administration is an essence
for the efficiency and effectiveness. Thus for success of
education management there must be adequate freedom and
flexibility , discipline and the necessary decorum should be
maintained in the educational institutions.
