NAME: PAÚL
USHIÑA
LEVEL: 4th “A”
WHAT IS AN AUTOMOTIVE
SCANNER?
• The automotive scanner is a
relatively young technology
within the automotive
industry, which is used to
diagnose electronic faults in
a car, specifically those
stored in the car's computer.
FUNCTIONS

Its function is to find out

essential doubts, since the
scan detects if the
kilometer counter has
been altered, if the
emissions are fine or if
there is an internal fault
in the engine, among
other critical points.
ADVANTAGES
Greatly minimizes vehicle repair time,
since incorrect diagnoses and wrong
decision-making are avoided when
changing any part of the engine. Also,
it will be possible to directly correct the
basic electronic errors and diagnose
those that take longer execution time.
TYPES OF
SCANNER
They have two types of
connectors:
• OBD1 connector: functional
for cars manufactured up to
1995 with electric fuel
injectors.
• OBD2 connector: compatible
with cars manufactured from
1996 to the present.
