This document summarizes a physics project on building a self-propelling toy car using recycled materials. The objective is to build a car that can move more than 2 meters on its own. The car is built using plastic bottles, caps, rubber bands, and other materials. It works through the physics principles of elastic force, momentum, and impulsive force as the rubber band is turned to propel the car. Ways to increase the car's speed include rotating the rubber band more, using a smooth surface, and reducing air resistance. The group thanks their teacher and parents for support and learned more about forces and motion through this project.

Physics project based learning: Self-Propelling Toy Car
Learning area: 2.0 Forces and Motion
Theme: Newtonian Mechanics Group members: 1. Wee Shu Yi Darcy 2. Jillian Goh Juei Wen 3. Foo Shi Hui 4. Cheresse Law Kemi 5. Wong Cheng Yee OBJECTIVE • To build a self-propelling toy car with recycled materials which can move a distance of more than 2 metres by itself. • To understand more about forces and motion. MATERIALS • 2 used 500ml plastic bottle • 5 container caps • A few rubber bands • A cutter • A marker pen • A screwdriver • A scissors Our DIY Toy Car Physics Principle Involved (1) Elastic force -When an elastic material is stretched or compressed, it exerts elastic force. -By turning the rubber band, the elastic force is produced and it let the car to move. Physics Principle Involved (2) Momentum -All moving objects have momentum. -When the car moves, there is a momentum occurs on the car. Physics Principle Involved (3) Impulsive force -Impulsive force is the change of momentum. -A follow through action after turning the rubber band produce a large impulse. CONCLUSION Ways to Increase The Speed of The Toy Car 1. Rotate the rubber band for more times. 2. Carry out in a smooth surface to reduce friction force. 3. By reducing the air resistance, make the car with smoother surface. APPRECIATION & REFERENCES I would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to my parents as well as our physics teacher, Sir Ong Yo Wee, who gave me the golden opportunity to do this wonderful project on the topic forces and motion which also helped me in doing a lot of research and I came to know about so many new things. Secondly I would also like to thank my group members who helped me a lot in finishing the project within the limited time. It helped me increase my knowledge and skills.
