    Hemolytic jaundice is caused by the excessive breakdown of red blood cells, which releases unconjugated bilirubin. It can be caused by blood transfusion incompatibility, erythroblastosis fetalis, glucose-6-phosphate deficiency, thalassemia, Gilbert's syndrome, malaria, or toxins. Symptoms include jaundice, acholuria, dark brown stool, itchiness, and fever or nausea. Laboratory tests show anemia, increased unconjugated bilirubin, and urobilinogen in the urine. Treatment depends on the underlying cause and may include blood transfusions, antimalarial drugs, iron supplementation, vitamins, or phototherapy.

    ETIOLOGY
    ➤ Blood transfusion incompatibility.Erythroblastosis fetalis

    ➤ Poison (toxin, venom etc.)
    CLINICAL MANIFESTATION
    ➤ Jaundice
    ➤ Acholuria
    ➤ Dark brown stool
    ➤ itchiness
    ➤ Fever, nausea , vomitting, dizziness
    LABORATORY INVESTIGATION
    ➤ Common blood analysis : hypochromic anemia
    ➤ Biochemical blood analysis: Unconjugated billirubin increase
    ➤ Urine analysis : urobilinogen
    ➤ Liver function test
    TREATMENT
    ➤ Based on underlying causes

    ➤ Thalassemia -blood transfusion, bone marrow transplantation


    ➤ Malaria- anti malarial drug
    ➤ Iron supplementation
    ➤ Vitamin therapy
    ➤ Phototherapy
