Who are your heroes?
Defining a personal hero is a bit like allowing our diaries to be
published. Through our choice of heroes, we spell volumes about
ourselves. We reveal our individual values and comment on those we
perceive to be lacking in the world around us. Our heroes represent
the best of ourselves, yet being human and therefore flawed, they
also allow us to accept our limitations.

Hatred paralyzes life; love
releases it. Hatred confuses
life; love harmonizes it. Hatred
darkens life; love illuminates it.

"Firemen are going to get killed. When they
join the department they face that fact. When
a man becomes a fireman his greatest act of
bravery has been accomplished. What he
does after that is all in the line of duty. They
were not thinking of getting killed when they
went where death lurked. They went there to
put the fire out, and got killed. Firefighters do
not regard themselves as heroes because
they do what the business requires."

I succeed.

In literature, the Journey is often a metaphor for discovery.

There are two types of journeys in literature:

The physical journey and the metaphorical one.

A journey is defined as the movement of one place to another.

The concept of an inner journey is similar in that it is also a
movement or growth to maturity in an individual because of challenging
and inspiring experiences.
By studying texts we can explore the way individuals go
through a journey of the mind and spirit.

This journey involves exploration of the self which leads to

growth and development. It involves challenges and
obstacles which are confronting but things can be learned
from those experiences allowing them to grow mentally
and spiritually.
