is a word that describes a verb,
an adjective or another
adverb. It describes how, when
and where an action happened.

Rules in Adverb of manner

1. Formed by adding -ly to the adjectives.


Brave- bravely sad- sadly
For example:
Sherylle went home sadly after hearing the

2. When the adjectives end in -y, change


-y to -i and add -ly.
Busy- busily lazy- lazily

The branches swayed lazily in the cold breeze.

3. When the adjective ends in -l, add -ly.

She put the glass down carefully.

5. Some adverbs do not end in -ly.

(Fast describes the verb run therefore, it is used as adverb)
