What is Gi-Fi technology?
• The GiFi stands for gigabit wireless technology, the
data rate performs at the speed of more than one
billion bits (gigabit) per second.
• Gi-Fi is ten times the current maximum wireless
transfer rate usually within a range of 10 meters.
• The Gi-Fi technology is the next generation
wireless technology.
What is GiFi technology?
• Gi-Fi, rather than Wi-Fi, can be thought of as a
counterpart to Bluetooth, with potential
applications ranging from new phones to
consumer electronics.
• The Gi-Fi technology is supposed to change the
way household appliances communicate with one
another.
History of Gi-Fi
 It was developed at the National Information and
Communication Technology Research Center in
Melbourne, Australia.
 The available 7 GHz of spectrum results in very
high data rates, up to 5 gigabits per second to
users within an indoor environment, usually
within a range of 10 metres.
 Professor Stan Skafidas – The man behind Gi-Fi.
Features of GI-FI.
 High speed of data transfer
 Low power consumption
 High security
 Cost effective
 Small size
 Quick deployment
 Highly portable, mobility

Disadvantages of Bluetooth and Wifi
The bit rates of Bluetooth is
800Kbps and Wi-Fi has 11Mbps

Both are having power

consumptions 5mw and 10mw So, to have higher
data transfer rate at
lower power
 The lower frequency of
consumption we
operation 2.4GHz.For transferring move onto Gi-Fi
large amount of videos, audios, technology
data files take hours of time.
Why Gi-Fi is best ?
 It uses ultra wide band which consist of :
1. High bit rate
2. High security
3. Faster data transmission
 In GI-FI technology chip is used which is work
on 57GHz frequency and of speed of
5Gbps which is much greater than recently
used wireless technology such as WI-FI and
Bluetooth.
Why Gi-Fi is best ?
 It transmits multiple signals
simultaneously across the wireless
transmission paths within separate
frequencies to avoid interference.
How it works ?
• The process of Gi-Fi would use a chip that transmits
at signal would allow a chip to send as much as five
gigabits per second. While the spectrum would
limit the device to the same 33-foot range as
Bluetooth or UWB (Ultra-Wide Band), it could
theoretically transfer an HD movie to a cell phone
in seconds.
• The size of the Gi-Fi chip is 5×5 millimeter and can
be placed in different devices such as mobile
phones. Mixing and signal filtering used in Gi-Fi
technology would keep the signal strong versus the
longer-ranged but slower and more drop-prone Wi-
Fi option of today. This technology removes cables
that for many years curled the world and provides
high speed data transfer rate.
Applications of Gi-Fi
 Household Appliances:
It makes the wireless
home and office of the
future.
 Office Appliances:
As it transfers data at
high speeds that made work
very easy.
Applications of Gi-Fi
 Video information transfers:
We can transfer at the speed
of gbps.
 Media access control (MAC)
imaging and others:
Transfers data at high speeds
such as email, images, world wide
web, etc…
Applications of Gi-Fi

• Inter-vehicle
communication system:
First Transceiver
Gi-Fi or Gigabit Wireless is the worlds
first transceiver integrated on a single
chip that operates at 60GHz on CMOS
process. Gi-Fi is a wireless transmission
system which is ten times faster than
Wi-Fi and its chip delivers short-range
multi-gigabit data transfer in an indoor
environment.
Gi-Fi Expectation
• Gi-Fi is a wireless transmission system is ten times faster than
Wi-Fi and its chip delivers short-range multi-gigabit data
transfer in an indoor environment. It allows wireless transfer of
audio and video data up to 5 gigabits per second, low power
consumption usually within a range of 10 meters. This
technology providing low-cost and high broadband access with
very high speed large files exchange within seconds.
• Within the next few years, we expect Gi-Fi to be dominant
technology for wireless networking.
• Gifi will develop wireless home and office of the future.
• If the success of Wi-Fi and the imminent wide usage of WiMAX
is any indication, Gi-Fi potentially can bring wireless broadband
to the enterprise in an entirely new way.
