C-TPAT
It is formed from what happened in the attacks of September 11, 2001 on the Twin
Towers, aims to raise the security levels of the companies who send goods or
products to the United States, and the main objective is to avoid contamination of the
freight from: DRUGS, WEAPONS AND / OR CONDITIONS oF TERRORISM.

Important areas for C-TPAT:

What is it?
• C-TPAT is a voluntary government-
business initiative that builds cooperative
relationships that strengthen and improve
overall international supply chain and U.S.
border security.
• C-TPAT is widely recognized as one of the most
effective means of providing the highest level of cargo
security through close cooperation with international
supply chain businesses such as importers, carriers,
consolidators, licensed customs brokers, and
manufacturers.

• Through this initiative, U.S. Customs and Border


Protection (CBP) is asking businesses to ensure the
integrity of their security practices and communicate
and verify the security guidelines of their business
partners within the supply chain.

• Participation in C-TPAT takes a real commitment of


time and resources from your company.

The FAST program
• This program is a border accord initiative
between the U.S., Mexico and Canada
designed to ensure security and safety
while enhancing the economic prosperity
of each country.

• In developing this program, the three


countries have agreed to coordinate, their
commercial processes for clearance of
commercial shipments at the border.
This will promote:
• Free and secure trade by using the
common risk-management principles.

• Supply chain security.

• Industry partnership.

• Advanced technology to improve the


efficiency of screening and clearing
commercial traffic at our shared borders.
Disadvantages

Certification in C-TPAT is a voluntary program, however it may have


disadvantages and consequences of not being certified.

Thorough inspections when reporting alarms or threats.
   
Costs

Green: Low Condition. Low risk of terrorist attacks.


Blue: Condition guard. General risk of terrorist attack.
Yellow: high condition. Significant risk of terrorist attack.
Orange: High Condition. High risk of terrorist attacks.
Red: severe condition. Severe risk of terrorist attacks.

Risks
The risk of contamination transport load can be high unless we implement
simple safety measures.

  Personnel assigned and authorized areas for loading and unloading


shipments material should be clearly identified. Bata gray.

invited to withdraw from the areas.

  Access to authorized personnel should be identified by signs.
