Abstract

There is limited scientific research on the efficacy of

using lemon as a shoe cleanser, but anecdotal evidence
suggests that it may have some cleaning and deodorizing
properties. Lemon contains citric acid, which can help
break down dirt and stains on shoes. Additionally, the
natural citrus scent of lemon may help mask unpleasant
odors that can accumulate in shoes over time.
Introduction
For a long period in history, plants have been valuable and
indispensable sources of natural products. Lemon is an
important medicinal plant of the family Rutaceae. It's
antibacterial potential in crude extracts of different parts
(leaves, stem, root, juice, peel and flower) of Lemon against
clinically significant bacterial strains has been reported.
The purpose of this study Is to help people to easily clean
their shoes and to lessen the microbes that sticks on their
shoes. Lemon is a powerful antibacterial. Its acidity creates a
hostile environment for many types of bacteria, including
those that cause many diseases in humans.
Statement of the Problem

1.) is it really effective to use lemon juice

as a shoe cleaner?

2.) Does this product really makes the

shoes cleaner?

and antifungal activity. Extracts of citrus fruit (e.g.
Lemon, orange and grape fruit) are among the
most studied natural Antimicrobials for food
applications), and it has shown to be Effectively
decrease the growth of bacteria. There are several
Citrus (C.) species, of these C. limon (lemon), C.
Aurantium (bitter orange), C. limetta (sweet
lemon), C. jambhiri
(Rough lemon) and C. paradise (grape fruit).
sanitizers
According to Thong PY,Rajendran JCB McCarthy JR,
Tharmalingam N and Madheswaran T, Hand
hygiene is of utmost importance as it may be
contaminated easily from direct contact with
airborne microorganism and sanitizer products are
alcohol-based formulations containing 62%-95% of
alcohol as it can denature the proteins of microbes
and the ability to inactivate viruses.
Vinegar
According to Feldmann A, Alexandrino LD, Santos
VRD, Kapczinski MP, Fraga S, Silva WJD, and
Mengatto CM, A vinegar-hydrogen peroxide
mixture's action has been reported to be
comparable with that of sodium hypochlorite or
peracetic acid.Vinegar effectively presented strong
cytotoxic effects.
Footwear
According to Kurup HV, Clark CI, Dega
RK.Surg (pub 2011 Apr 17) Footwear is an
item of clothing made by humans that covers
and protects the foot. Footwear is the oldest
known fashion accessory in use It is often
implicated in orthopaedic problems affecting
lower limbs and back and recommended that
children with flexible flatfeet should be
encouraged to walk barefoot to help in
developing their arches.
METHODOLOGY

Materials
The materials that were used in this
study were: measuring cup,knife,spray
container,hand sanitizer, white
vinegar,Water, and
lemon juice.
Collection
A bottle of sanitizer was collected from the rojon
pharmacy of Crossing Agan, Polomolok south
Cotabato.Only 50ml of sanitizer was used in the
experiment. The measuring cup, knife, and tap water
was collected from our house on Balabat, Polomolok
South Cotabato. Only 1, measuring cup,one knife and
10ml of water was used for the experiment. The spray
container, hand sanitizer, white vinegar and lemon
juice are collected from the Gaisano mall of
Polomolok South Cotabato. Only 1 spray container,
50ml hand sanitizer,10ml white vinegar and half of a
lemon fruit was used for the experiment.
Procedure
A.Preparation of materials.
All materials was prepared.

B.Measurements of the materials needed

Fifty(50) milliliters of hand sanitizer, ten (10) milliliters of
vinegar, ten(10) milliliters of tap water, and half sliced
lemon.

C.Pouring the ingredients into the container

Pour the 50ml hand sanitizer first, next pour the 10ml
vinegar, next pour 10ml water and lastly pour the juice of a
half sliced lemon.
Mixing
D. Mix the ingredients all together until it becomes liquid

E. Putting the mixture in the spray container

The mixture of sanitizer, vinegar, water and lemon was put in
a spray container.

F. Shaking the mixture

The mixtures was shaked hardly to mix.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
The measurements that were recorded
from the experiment focused more on the
cleanliness of the shoe over the course of
the experiment.
As this table shows, the effectivity of lemon as a shoe
cleanser is better when a researcher waits a day
before using it because it becomes more effective.
The mixture of lemon, vinegar, sanitizer and water
gets stronger after a day. In the first day of trying the
lemon-based shoe spray cleanser, the shoe became
cleaner.
On the 2nd day of trial, the product became more
effective and it also keeps the shoes far from the
microbes compared to trial one.
CONCLUSIONS AND
RECOMMENDATIONS

Conclusions
Based from the data gathered, the researcher
conclude that the lemon was really effective
on eliminating bacterias and
microbes.Furthermore it is also concluded
that the mixtures of the researcher's study
gets more effective after a day. Therefore the
products was still effective and useful even if
the researcher use it after making.
Recommendations
Based from the drawn conclusions,the
researcher recommend the following:
1) Conduct more experiments with the
following ingredients.
2) Use lemon juice as an effective shoe
cleaner.
