CATHEDRAL OF

OUR LADY
OF THE
FAMILY ROSARY
OF FATIMA
Estd. 1958
PSALM 51 - A Prayer for Forgiveness
Be merciful to me, O God
because of your constant love
Because of your great mercy
wipe away my sins!
Wash away all my evil and
make me clean from my sin!
I recognize my faults
I am always conscious of my sins
I have sinned against you - only against you
and done what you consider evil
So you are right in judging me
you are justified in condemning me
I have been evil from the day I was born
from the time I was conceived
I have been sinful
Sincerity and truth are what you require
fill my mind with your wisdom
Remove my sin, and I will be clean
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow
Let me hear the sounds of joy and gladness
and though you have crushed me
and broken me
I will be happy once again
Close your eyes to my sins and
wipe out all my evil
Create a pure heart in me, O God
and put a new and loyal spirit in me
Do not banish me from your presence
Do not take your Holy Spirit away from me
Give me again the joy
that comes from your salvation
and make me willing to obey you
Then I will teach sinners your commands
and they will turn back to you
Spare my life, O God, and save me
and I will gladly proclaim your righteousness
Help me to speak, Lord
and I will praise you
You do not want sacrifices
or I would offer them
you are not pleased with burnt offerings
My sacrifice is a humble spirit, O God
You will not reject a humble
and repentant heart O God
Be kind to Zion and
help her rebuild
the walls of Jerusalem
Then you will be pleased
with proper sacrifices
and with our burnt offerings and bulls
will be sacrificed on your altar. Amen.
PSALM 9191
PSALM - GOD OUR
- GOD PROTECTOR
OUR PROTECTOR
a

Whoever goes to the Lord for safety,

whoever remains under the protection
of the Almighty, can say to him:
"You are my defender and protector
You are my God; in you I trust"
He will keep you safe from all hidden
dangers and from all deadly diseases
He will cover you with his wings
you will be safe in his care his
faithfulness will protect and defend you
You need not fear any dangers at night
or sudden attacks during the day
or the plagues that strike in the dark
or the evils that kill in daylight
A thousand may fall dead beside you
ten thousand all around you
but you will not be harmed
You will look and see how the
wicked are punished
You have made the Lord your defender
the Most High your protector
and so no disaster will strike you
no violence will come near your home
God will put his angels in charge of you
to protect you wherever you go
They will hold you up with their hands
to keep from hurting your feet on the stones
You will trample down lions and snakes
fierce lions and poisonous snakes
God says, "I will save those who love me
and will protect those who
acknowledge me as Lord
When they call to me, I will answer them
When they are in trouble, I will be with them
I will rescue them and honour them
I will reward them with long life
I will save them" Amen.
THE HOLY ROSARY
I believe in God, the Father Almighty
Creator of heaven and earth
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
born of the Virgin Mary
suffered under Pontius Pilate
was crucified, died and was buried
He descended into hell
on the third day
He rose again from the dead
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of
God the Father Almighty
from there He will come to judge
the living and the dead
I believe in the Holy Spirit
the Holy Catholic Church
the communion of Saints
the forgiveness of sins
the resurrection of the body
and life everlasting. Amen.

THE MEMORARE
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to thy protection
implored thy help
or sought thy intercession, was left unaided
Inspired by this confidence
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of Virgins,
my mother, To thee I come, before thee
I stand, sinful and sorrowful
O Mother of the Word Incarnate
despise not my petitions
but in thy mercy
hear and answer me. Amen.
PRAYER TO MOTHER MARY
a Holy Virgin Mary, mother worthy of filial
love, give me a heart like yours
Strong in its decisions and of
unshakeable loyalty
A heart full of love that radiates good
will and is not hardened
A pure heart, which lives in the flesh
without living for the flesh
A noble heart that quickly forgets its
wounds and is ever ready to pardon
A sensitive heart that shares in the joys
and the sorrows of others
A heart gentle and kind, that judges no one
And never ceases to have
confidence in others
A recollected heart, closed to the
enticements of the evil one
Open always to the Word of God
in all the events of life
An unwavering heart, clear in its thinking
and strong in its action
A heart that is completely absorbed
in the interests of Christ
And unshakably loyal to Him. Amen.
PRAYER FOR UNITY OF CHRISTIANS
Abba Father, hear the prayers of thy people and bring
the hearts of all believers together
in thy praise and thy glory. Heal all divisions among
Christians that we may rejoice in the perfect unity of
thy Church and move
together as one to eternal life in thy kingdom.
Abba Father, look with love on thy people
and pour out upon us the gifts of
thy Holy Spirit. May we constantly grow
in the love of truth. Let thy Church rise more clearly
as a sign for all the nations that the world may be
filled with the light of the Holy Spirit and believe in
Jesus Christ whom thou sent for the salvation of
mankind. Amen.
PRAYER FOR THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Lord Jesus on the night of your Last Supper you
promised to ask your Father to send us another
paraclete, the Spirit of truth, to abide
in us and guide us. After ascending into heaven you
poured out upon your apostles the Spirit of adoption
as children. Send your Spirit, Lord Jesus, upon us,
the same spirit
who rested upon you, anointed you and sent you to
preach the good news to the poor.
Give us the spirit of wisdom and undersanding, the
spirit of right judgement and courage, the spirit of
knowledge and reverence. Fill us with the Spirit of
the holy fear of the Lord. Send your Holy Spirit
to be our helper and guide.
Leader : Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts
of your faithful
All : And enkindle in us the fire of
your love
Leader : Send forth your Spirit and we all
shall be recreated
All : And you shall renew the face
of the earth
LET US PRAY
A

Lord, fill our minds and hearts with the fire

of your Holy Spirit so that we may serve you
in purity of heart. May the paraclete who proceeds
from you, enlighten our minds, and lead us to all truth
as your Son has promised.
May the Holy Spirit cleanse our conscience
by his coming, so that when your Son, our Lord
Jesus Christ comes, he may find in us a dwelling
place prepared for him. We make
this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us
Break us, melt us, mould us, fill us
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me
Break me, melt me, mould me, fill me
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me

Faith in God can move the mountains
Trust in Him can calm the sea
He's my fortress, He's my stronghold
He's the rock who rescues me
Lord, you are my refuge
Never let me be ashamed
In your justice, rescue me
Turn to me and hear my prayer
Faith in God can move the mountains
Trust in Him can calm the sea
He's my fortress, He's my stronghold
He's the rock who rescues me
You are my salvation
From oppression set me free
Ever since my childhood
You have been my only hope
Faith in God can move the mountains
Trust in Him can calm the sea
He's my fortress, He's my stronghold
He's the rock who rescues me
Bitter troubles burden me
But you fill me with new life
From the grave you raise me up
So my tongue will sing your praise
Faith in God can move the mountains
Trust in Him can calm the sea

Deep in thy wounds, Lord, hide and shelter me
So shall I never, never part from thee
Guard and defend me from the foe malign

Call me and bid me come to thee on high
Where I may praise thee with thy saints for aye

All: That we may be made worthy of the promises
Priest:
LET US PRAY
O Almighty and merciful God, who in order to assist the
human race hast willed the Blessed Virgin Mary to
become the Mother of Thy only begotten Son, grant we
beseech Thee, that by her intercession, we may avoid
the contagion of sin and serve Thee with a pure heart,
through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
NOVENA PRAYER
O Mother of Perpetual Succour, behold me a miserable
sinner at Thy feet. I have recourse to Thee and put my
trust in Thee. O Mother of Mercy, have pity upon me. I
hear Thee called by all the refuge and the hope of
sinners; be then my refuge and my hope, succour me for
the love of Jesus Christ; stretch forth Thy hand to me,
a poor sinner, who recommends and dedicates myself to
Thee as Thy perpetual servant. I bless and thank God
for having in His Mercy given me this confidence in
Thee, the pledge, as I believe of my eternal salvation.
Alas, too often in past times have I miserably fallen
because I had not recourse to Thee, I know that with
Thy help I shall conquer. I know that Thou will help me
if I
recommend myself to Thee, but I fear lest in the
occasion of falling I should cease to call upon Thee and
so should lose my soul. This, then, is the grace I seek
from Thee, and I beg of Thee, as far as I know, how and
can, to obtain it for me, namely, in the assaults of hell,
always to have recourse to Thee and to say to Thee, O
Mary,
help me. Mother of Perpetual Succour,
suffer me not to lose my God. Amen.
Priest: Mother of Perpetual Succour
All: Pray for us Thy children
Hail Mary...

(Repeat Three Times)

Holy Mary, succour the miserable, help the faint
hearted, cheer those that weep, pray for the people, be
the advocate of the clergy, intercede for all devout
women, let all feel thine aid, who implore Thy perpetual
succour.

Priest: Thou has been made for us, O Lady, a refuge

All: A helper in need and tribulation
LET US PRAY
O Lord, Jesus Christ, who hast given us Thy Mother
Mary, whose wondrous image we venerate, to be our
Mother, ever ready to succour us, grant, we beseech
Thee, that we, who earnestly implore her maternal aid,
may deserve to enjoy perpetually the fruit of
Thy redemption, who lives and reigns
world without end. Amen.
HYMN
Mother dear Oh, pray for me
Whilst far from Heaven and Thee
I wander in a fragile bark
O'er life's tempestuous sea
O Virgin Mother, from Thy throne
So bright in bliss above
Protect Thy child, and cheer my path
With Thy sweet smile of love
Mother dear Oh, pray for me
And never cease Thy care
Till in heaven eternally
Thy love and bliss I share

Priest: Let us pause for a moment in silent

thanksgiving and petitions

Mary from Thy sacred image
With those eyes so sadly sweet
Mother of Perpetual Succour
See us kneeling at thy feet
In thine arms thy Child thou bearest
Source of all thy joy and woe
What thy bliss, how deep thy sorrows
Mother thou alone canst know
On Thy face He is not gazing
Nor on us is turned His glance
For His anxious look He fixes
On the Cross and Reed and Lance
To Thy hands His hands are clinging
As a child would cling in fear
Of that vision of the torments
Of His Passion drawing near
Succour us in clouds of sadness
Hide the light of heaven above
Hope expires and faith scares lingers
And we dare not think we love
In that hour of gloom and peril
Show to us they radiant face
Smiling down from thy loved image
Rays of cheering light and grace
Succour us when stormy passion
Sudden rise within the heart
Quell the tempest, calm the billows
Peace secure to us impart
Through this life of weary exile
Succour us in every need
And when death shall come to free us
Succour us Ah! Then indeed
