PROPER
INTRODUCTION
Balance diet and being active in
physical activity are vital in order to
achieve a healthy lifestyle that also
influences other components such
as the mental, emotional, social,
moral and environmental health.
IMPORTANCE OF WEALTHY WEIGHT IN
RELATION TO NUTRITION

Nutrition is the study of nutrients in food, how

the body uses them, and the relationship
between diet, health, and disease.

Nutrition also focuses on how people can
use dietary choices to reduce the risk of disease,
what happens if a person has too much or too
little of a nutrient, and how allergies work.
Determining Nutrients Needs

Nutrients include carbohydrates, proteins,
fats, vitamins, minerals and water.
The first three: carbohydrates, protein and
fats – are found in larger (macro) quantities in
the body thus referred to as “Macronutrients”
while vitamins and minerals which are found
in smaller (micro) amounts are referred to as
“Micronutrients”.
Macronutrients
1) Carbohydrate (Sugar, starch, and fiber are types of carbohydrates)

Sugars are simple carbs. The body quickly breaks
down and absorbs sugars and processed starch. They
can provide rapid energy, but they do not leave a
person feeling full.

Fiber is also a carbohydrate. The body breaks down
some types of fiber and uses them for energy; others
are metabolized by gut bacteria, while other types
pass through the body.

Fiber and unprocessed starch are
complex carbs. It takes the body some
time to break down and absorb complex
carbs. After eating fiber, a person will
feel full for longer. Fiber may also reduce
the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular
disease, and colorectal cancer.
2. Proteins - Proteins are made of small units called
amino acids. That considered the building blocks of
the body thus it also promotes muscle growth that
required for many body functions including
assistance with chemical reactions and hormones.

3. Fats – It also called “lipids” are provided in the

diet from such sources like animal protein, butter
oils, nuts and many refined products. Fats are
needed in appropriate amounts for normal body
functions.
Micronutrients

4. Minerals - The body needs
carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and
nitrogen. It also needs dietary
minerals, such as iron, potassium
, and so on. In most cases, a
varied and balanced diet will
provide the minerals a person
needs. If a deficiency occurs, a
doctor may recommend
supplements.
5. Vitamins - Eating a
variety of healthful foods
can provide the body with
different vitamins.
People need small
amounts of various
vitamins. Some of these,
such as vitamin C, are
also antioxidants. This
means they help protect
cells from damage by
removing toxic molecules,
known as free radicals,
Vitamins can be:

Water-soluble: The eight B
vitamins and vitamin C
Fat-soluble: Vitamins A, D, E, and
K
Water soluble vitamins -
People need to consume water-
soluble vitamins regularly
because the body removes
them more quickly, and it
cannot store them easily.

Fat-soluble vitamins - The
body absorbs fat-soluble
vitamins through the intestines
with the help of fats (lipids).
The body can store them and
does not remove them quickly.
People who follow a low-fat
diet may not be able to absorb
enough of these vitamins. If
too many build up, problems
can arise.

CHEERDANCE
Cheerdance is coined from the
words, cheer and dance. To cheer
is to shout out words or phrases
that may help motivate and boost
the morale of a playing team and
perform better during a game.
Dance, on the other hand, is a
physical activity where one
expresses emotions or gestures
while performing bodily movements
usually in time with rhythm.
Cheerdancing rooted from
cheerleading.
Cheerleading is the
performance of a routine,
usually dominated by
gymnastic skills such as jumps,
tumbling skills, lifts and tosses
combined with shouting of
cheers and yells to lead the
crowd to cheer for a certain
team during a game or sport. It
originated in the United States.
