Photography Styles

1. High Dynamic Range

A scene with a high dynamic range is one with a big difference
between the lightest or brightest part and the darkest or shadow
part. Compose a scene with areas of blackness or whiteness
against which the mid-tones can shine. Think color
combinations and contrast!
2. Urban Nature Style
Urban Nature combines man-made structures or city culture
with nature. You can work with general views of the
environment or in close-up to focus on details that are usually
overlooked.
3. City Streets Style
Although the name says ‘city streets’, the photo does not need
to be taken in a city. It’s just the name given to this style of
photography. Basically, find an area where there are plenty of
people present and try to capture the busy scene in a balanced,
well-composed image. You can either capture a general view or
get in close to take a more intimate shot.
4. Essence of Sport/Place and
Capturing Character
Sports of all kinds combine color, lots of action, athletic bodies,
and high emotion. Photograph a sport you know or love in order
to communicate what it is about it that engages you. Is it the
thrill of the speed, the delicacy of balance needed, the feel of
water on the skin, or the camaraderie?

Similarly, you can photograph parts of college life or of Douliou

that you know or love in order to communicate what it is about
those parts that interests you. Try to show the true character of
the people or place.
