ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
• Artificial Intelligence is a branch of Science
which deals with Helping Machines finding
solutions to complex problems in a more
human like fashion.

ML is a sub category of AI that often used

statistical Techniques to give the machine to
the ability to absorb data without
explicitly receiving instruction to do so.
INTRODUCTION
• Artificial Intelligence is the ability of a digital
computer or computer-controlled robot to perform
tasks commonly associated with intelligent beings,
such as learning from past experience.
• The systems powered by artificial intelligence use
different algorithms to organize and understand
vast amounts of data, with the purpose of making
optimal decisions.
INTRODUCTION
• Humans learn from their day-to-day lives owing to
their ability to think; for example, they can learn
from an education or from their thoughts and
memories. However, computers learn through
algorithms, unlike humans.
• This is called machine learning (ML). ML uses
computer algorithms to simulate human learning
and allows computers to identify and acquire
knowledge from the real world, thereby improving
the performance of certain tasks based on the newly
acquired knowledge.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MINING
MINERAL EXPLORATION
• Mineral exploration is the core of the mining
industry. AI can help companies to detect and
extract minerals. Using machine learning and AI,
computers can be trained to identify promising
areas.
• Data from multiple sources can be analyzed, and
machine learning algorithms can identify
exploration regions. Using AI and machine
learning, the software can highlight ore bodies as
well as map out these regions with extreme detail.
MINERAL EXTRACTION AND TRANSPORTATION

AI-powered robots and vehicles can help in

drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities.
These vehicles help companies cut down on
costs as these machines are more productive and
efficient compared to the human workforce.
FASTER DATA PROCESSING
• In most mines, data is still collected manually.
This means slower processing and a greater
margin of error. Using machine learning-based
methodologies would not only deliver data
results faster but also reduce the overall error
involved.
POWER PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE

• AI can be utilized to know when mining

equipment needs to undergo maintenance. The
technology can also be used to gauge the quality
of excavated ores with a higher degree of
precision.
• The system can be trained to look for specific
characteristics and allow only those materials
which fulfill this criterion. This will lead to a
reduction in operational costs and avoid
unwarranted human error.
IMPROVING WORKER SAFETY
• Mining kills and injures more people than any other
profession in the world. The mining industry
witnesses around 15,000 deaths in a year.
• AI can help engineers and workers prevent
accidents and injuries. Hazardous working
environments can be predicted by analyzing data
collected by AI devices. AI-enabled sensors can
monitor the working conditions and turn preventive
maintenance into predictive maintenance. This
reduces the workers' exposure to dangerous
situations.

Monitoring Belt Conveyor Systems used to be performed by means of inspectors and off
line. These days the developments are towards fully automated inspection systems. The
IoT enables that more information from sensor systems becomes available that was not
available in the past. IoT enables to identify the belt conveyor fire detection application.
Belt conveyor sensor installations only require optical fiber, so no control or power
system lines are needed. Optical fiber sensors require almost no maintenance. It can
Monitor Plant Safety 24 Hours a Day, 365 Days a Year.

CONCLUSIONS
• Artificial intelligence has already proven to be a
boon for many sectors, including mining. The
use of AI in mining might not help solve all the
problems that the sector faces.
• However, it can bring about significant changes
in major areas of concern by providing crucial
data that can be analyzed to overcome major
inefficiencies in the industry.
