HONGKONG

POLICE SYSTEM
 The largest disciplined police service
under the security bureau of Hong
Kong.
 World’s second and Asia’s first police
agency to operate in modern policing
system.
 Formed in year 1844 with 32 officers.
 In year 1969, Queen Elizabeth 11
granted the Royal Charter to the
Hong Kong Police Force for their
handling riots of the HongKong
1967, remaning the Royal Police
Force as the Royal Hong Kong Police
Force (RHKPF).
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
 The history of HingKong Police system dates
back to the colony's beginning when in 1841. A
former army officer was appointed magistrate
with powers to recruit men for police duties.
The majority of these Early policemen were
either ex-soldiers or ex-sailors.
 n 1844, the first Indians were recruited. The
following year a police superintendent of the
London Metropolitan Police arrived with two
police inspectors to organize, trained and
maintained a police force capable of
maintaining peace and order and establishing
public security and safety in the country.
 The RHKPF has been serving hongkong
shortly after the island was established as
colony in 1841. On the same year, after the
British landed in Hongkong, Captain Charles
Elliot established a police force in the new
colony.
 The first chief of police was captain William
Caine Who was also served as the Chief
Magistrate
