Power Over

Your Tongue
Power Over
Your Tongue
The words we speak have an incredible
power to shape our lives and the lives
of others. Our words can be used as a
tool to bring life—by bringing
encouragement, comfort, and hope—or
to bring death—by spreading hurtful
lies, gossip, and negativity.
Psalm 52:2-9
2
Ang imong dila nagalalang
ug kadautan gayud, Sama sa
mahait nga navaja,
nagabuhat nga malimbongon.
What properly belongs to the heart is
here ascribed to the tongue; because,
as observes, it is the interpreter and
discoverer of the thoughts of the heart:
out of the abundance of that the tongue
speaks and declares the mischief it has
devised.
Psalm 52:2-9
3
Gihigugma mo ang dautan
labaw kay sa maayo, ug ang
kabakakan, labaw kay sa
pagsulti sa pagkamatarong.
You love evil rather than
good, falsehood rather than
speaking the truth. Thou
lovest evil more than good;
and lying rather than to speak
righteousness.
Psalm 52:2-9
4
Gihigugma mo ang
tanang mga pulong nga
makamatay, Oh dila nga
malimbongon.
Deceitful tongue. So, David
declares that either Doeg is
himself a deceitful tongue or
that he loves deceitful tongues.
Either way, Doeg is a liar and
he loves lies.
Psalm 52:2-9
5
Ang Dios magalaglag usab kanimo
sa walay katapusan; pagapuniton ka
niya, ug pagalukahon ka gikan sa
imong balong-balong, ug magaibut
kanimo gikan sa yuta sa mga buhi.
The imagery David employs in verse 5
leaves little doubt that God hates evil
and will harshly and mercilessly judge
the wicked. As we read and consider
Psalm 52 we are confronted with this
picture of God breaking down,
snatching up, tearing away and
uprooting the wicked.
Psalm 52:2-9
6
Ang matarong makakita usab niana, ug
mahadlok, ug mokatawa kaniya, nga
maga-ingon.
7
Ania karon, kini mao ang tawo nga ang
Dios wala himoa niya nga iyang kalig-on,
kondili misalig sa kadagaya sa iyang
bahandi, ug nagpalig-on sa iyang
kaugalingon sa pagkadautan.
Reminds Us That the Things of
This World Are Fleeting, Seek
Refuge In God. God, teach us to
trust in your steadfast love and not
to trust in the things of this world.
God, I pray for this in my own life.
Psalm 52:2-9
8
Apan mahatungod kanako, ako
sama sa malunhaw nga olivia nga
anaa sa balay sa Dios: Nagasalig
ako sa mahigugmaong kalolot sa
Dios sa mga katuigan nga walay
katapusan.
David declares, “I trust in the
steadfast love of God forever and
ever” . To trust in the Lord is to live
in dependence, reliance, and
confidence in the Lord. This is the
only way to face evil, injustice, and
wickedness. You must trust in the
Lord.
Psalm 52:2-9
9
Magahatag ako kanimo sa mga
pasalamat sa walay katapusan,
tungod kay gibuhat mo kini; ug ako
magalaum sa imong ngalan, kay
kini maayo, sa atubangan sa imong
mga balaan .
He will call upon me, and I will
answer him; I will be with him in
trouble, I will deliver him and honor
him. '” We are to call on his name,
we are to acknowledge his name.
God's promise is that he will rescue
us, answer us, deliver us, honor us,
give us hope, and be with us in our
trouble.
James 3:6-8
There is one who speaks like the
piercings of a sword: Some people
have the terrible ability to speak in a
manner that stabs and slices others.
Their words are like the slashing and
piercings of a sword, bringing hurt
instead of healing.
