RIVERSIDE ELEMENTARY
SCHOOLS

CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM
 In the Philippines, going back to school during this pandemic poses a challenge for
all – the school head, teachers, non-teaching personnel, parents, learners and the
broader community.
 But no matter how challenging the times may be, it is always necessary to make
education equally important with the health safety of the learners as top priorities
(Department of Education, 2020).

 Online classes have become the cornerstone of modern higher education.


Teachers are still struggling with ways to engage students online.

 Modular distance learning was introduced by all public’s schools because,


according to a survey conducted by the Department of Education (DepEd),
learning through printed modules emerged distance learning method of parents
with children who are enrolled this academic year (Bernardo, J).
 Teachers in the modular distance learning struggles with lack of preparation
time, inadequate learning resources, incomplete and unanswered modules,
lack of parental support, and poor internet connectivity.

 The study of Dangle and Sumaong (2020) showed that the main challenges
that emerged were internet connectivity problems, inadequate learning
resources, difficulty understanding the module contents and assessment
instructions, poor learning environment, and mental health problems.

 DepEd Undersecretary San Antonio identified the suggested strategies in the


implementation of distance learning delivery Modalities such as time
management, home visitation, regular communication to parents and
students, and utilization of Blended Learning.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The study aims to find the struggles and remedies in the conduct of online or
modular classes that encountered among Riverside Elementary Schools. Especially, it
seeks to determine the following: 
1. What are the teaching struggles in the conduct of online or modular classes that
encountered among Riverside Elementary Schools?
2. What are the remedies done by the teacher to solve the struggles in the conduct of
online or modular classes that encountered among Riverside Elementary Schools?
3. What are the Practical Strategies in the conduct of online or modular classes that
encountered among Riverside Elementary Schools?
HYPOTHESIS OF THE STUDY
1. There is a significant difference between the struggles that encountered by the
Riverside Elementary Schools.
2. There is a significant difference between the remedies implemented by the Riverside
Elementary Schools

METHODOLOGY
RESEARCH DESIGN
The researchers use descriptive. It was comparative design because it seeks to
determine the struggles and remedies in the conduct of online or modular classes that
encountered among Riverside Elementary Schools. It was comparative in nature
because the researchers were trying to compare the struggles and remedies
encountered by the teachers among Riverside Elementary Schools.
POPULATION AND LOCALE OF THE STUDY
The population of this study were the (8) teachers of Tabiog Elementary School, (8)
teachers of Siwasiw Elementary School, and (8) teachers of Calao Elementary School
that this study was conducted in Riverside Elementary Schools, School Year 2022-
2023.
DATA GATHERING INSTRUMENT

The research instrument used in this study is an interview. The interview


was a tool used by the researchers to collect data which was used to
determine the struggles and remedies in the conduct of online or modular
classes that encountered among Riverside Elementary Schools.

The interview was composed of questions that would determine the


struggles and remedies in the conduct of online or modular classes among
Riverside Elementary School.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
In conducting the study, the researchers prepared an interview for the teachers
that were categorized into three (3) which were the struggles, remedies, and
practical strategies of online or modular classes.
The researchers sent a request a letter to the Head Teacher of Tabiog, Siwasiw,
and Calao Elementary Schools. Upon approval, the researchers coordinated to the
teachers of Riverside Elementary Schools for the conduct of the study.
The researchers conduct an interview to the teachers of Riverside Elementary
Schools to determine the struggles and remedies of online or modular classes, the
researchers administered questions to the teachers among Riverside Elementary
Schools.
STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF DATA
The data gathered was treated using the following statistical tools:
1. Interview was used to determine the struggles and remedies that
encountered among Riverside Elementary Schools.
2. Frequency was used to determine the struggles and remedies that
encountered by the teachers of Riverside Elementary Schools.
