WHAT IS A POWERPOINT
PRESENTATION?
• A Microsoft presentation program that
creates a slide show of important
information, charts, and images to display
during a presentation.
• PowerPoint gives you the ability to create a
visual aid that can help make your
presentation the best it can be.
• Getting the most out of PowerPoint takes
some time, but with a little
experimentation, you can have a unique and
effective presentation.

PowerPoint presentations
usually begin with a title
slide that may contain the
name or the topic of the
presentation and
sometimes will contain
the name(s) of the
presenter(s).
CONTENT SLIDES

• The title slide is followed by


content slides that contain
information usually in the
form of text---often in the
form of a bulleted list---and
sometimes graphics.
• The ribbon contains a series of tabs that you can
switch between. Each of these have a unique set of

MENU RIBBON • When you switch tabs on the ribbon, you'll see new
buttons and options to modify your presentation
TABS
• File. Save, share, and export your presentation.
• Home. A collection of the most common tools that
you'll use in PowerPoint.
• Insert. An all-in-one tool to add every imagine-able
type of content, such as tables, pictures, charts, video,
and more.
• Design. Controls the overall look and feel of your
presentation with theme and style settings.
• Transitions. Add animations when you switch slides.
• Animations. Controls the order and style that objects
will enter or exit your slide with.
• Slide Show. Control settings related to the way your
presentation appears when sharing it with an
audience.
THE HOME TAB

• Use it for:
1. Adding a new slide
2. Changing text and paragraph settings
THE INSERT TAB

•Use it for:
•adding content to a slide
•add tables, pictures, charts, and more
THE DESIGN TAB

• Use it for:
• Themes and styles in PowerPoint to add visual appeal to the presentation
• Click on one of the theme thumbnails to transform the look and feel of
the presentation.

STEP1:
Launch the
PowerPoin
t Program
STEP 2: Choosing a
Design
• A theme is a slide design that
contains matching colours, fonts,
and special effects like shadows,
reflections, and more.
• On the Design tab, click on one
of the thumbnails for a theme.
• As you click each theme,
PowerPoint shows you a preview.
• When you find the one you want,
click on it.
Step 3: Create Title Page

• Your title is the first thing that


your audience will see.
• It should be easy to read and
give a basic overview about the
topic of the presentation.
Step 4: Add More Slides

• On the Home tab, click the bottom half


of New Slide, and select a slide layout.
• These layouts have content boxes that are
easy to add content to.
• Simply choose a layout, and then start
adding your content.
STEP 5: INSERTING
PICTURES,GRAPHS, CHARTS
ETC.

• If you want to insert a chart, picture,


graph, or any other graphic, click on
the 'Insert' tab at the top of the
window.
•  Here you will see buttons of all the
options of what you can insert into
your slide.  
• Click the designated box and insert
what it is you want to have on that
slide. 
Step 6: Add Transitions
• To add transitions in between your
slides, click the 'Animations' tab at
the top of the page.  
• Here you can scroll through all the
options of transitions, and hover
over them to see a preview.
•  Select the slide you want the
transition applied to, and then click
the transition you chose.  
• You can do this for every slide,
selecting the same or different
transitions.
SLIDE SHOW

• On the Slide Show tab, do one of


the following:
• To start the presentation at the
first slide, in the Start Slide
Show group, click From
Beginning.
• To get out of Slide Show view at
any time, on the keyboard,
press Esc.
