Syntax is the grammatical structure of words and phrases are arranged to create
coherent sentences. It dictates how words from different parts of speech are put
together in order to convey a complete thought.

Examples of syntax in a sentence :

• The boy jumped happily


• The boy happily
• Happily, the boy jumped
Function of Syntax :

• To determine how words form phrase and phrase form sentence


• To make the sentence true and good
• To compose the sentence correctly according
• To the grammar structure
Compound Sentences:
Contain two statement that are
connected by a conjunction (and, but, or,
etc)

example:
I want to cry, but my tears wouldn’t
come
Complex sentences:
to explore and express the posible
relationships between ideas, we can use
subordinate conjuction words like
if, because, unless, when and although ,
whenever
example :
The dog barked because it was lonely
Compound complex sentences:
contain the clauses are connected
by both conjuctions
(but,so,and) and subordinators
(who,because,although)
example:
Jack forgot his friends birthday, so
he cam sent her a card when he
finally rememberred.
