MATHS HOLIDAY HOMEWORK
What are the whole numbers ?
The whole numbers are the collection of positive
numbers and zero.
It is represented by the symbol “W”.

The set of numbers are {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,


……………}.
Represented on number line:-
Addition on number line
•Addition of whole numbers can be shown on the number
line .
• Addition of 3 & 4:-
•Starting from 3 add 4 to this number, so make 4 jumps to
the right from 3 to 4, 4 to 5, 5 to 6, and 6 to 7.
•Answer will be 7.
•The sum of 3 and 4 is 7, i.e. 3+4=7.
Subtraction on number line
•The subtraction of two whole numbers can be shown on
the number line.
•Subtraction of 5 from 7.
•Start from 7, as 5 is being subtracted move towards left
with 1 jump of 1 unit.
•Make 5 jumps.
•So, 7-5=2.
Multiplication on number line
•Multiplication of whole numbers can be done on the
number line.
•Multiplication of 2x4.
•Start from 0 move 2 units at a time to the right, make such 4
moves.
•It will reach upto 8.
•So, 2x4=8
