Pitch names

5 Pitch – is the degree of highness or


lowness of a tone.
OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

• Recognize the meaning and use of G-clef.


• Identify the pitch name of each line and space of the G-
clef staff.
• Identify the pitch names of notes on the ledger lines and
spaces below the G-clef staff (middle C and D)
• Sing it correct pitch.

- is made up of series of tones that has move-
ment, direction, and shape.
- it is what your remember most in a song.
- the idea of a song is expressed through the
melody.

To better understand melody, you should first be familiar


with musical symbols that help determine the pitch of a
note.

Musical Staff
bass clef

G-clef or Treble clef F-clef or bass clef

- composed of five horizontal lines and four spaces. It is


enclosed by bar lines at each sides.
- A particular pitch name or note is determined by a clef
placed at the left most side of the staff.

up or down in pitch in fixed steps.
OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

• Identify the notes in the C Major Scale.


• Sing intervals in correct pitch.
