What is feasibility report/study?

• A feasibility report/study is a detailed analysis that considers all of the


critical aspects of a proposed project in order to determine the likelihood
of it succeeding.
• It is an assessment of the practicality of a proposed plan or project.
• A company may conduct a feasibility study when it's considering
launching a new business, adding a new product line, or acquiring a rival.
• It's a good idea to have a contingency plan on hand in case the original
project is found to be infeasible.
Benefits of a Feasibility Report

•  Helps project managers discern the pros and cons of undertaking a project
before investing a significant amount of time and capital into it.
•  Provide a company's management team with crucial information that
could prevent them from entering into a risky business venture.
• Helps to know more about how to operate properly, what the potential
obstacles are, who the competition is, and what the market is.
• Helps convince investors and bankers that investing in a particular project
or business is a wise choice.
Objectives of feasibility report

• Plan a course of events to complete the project


• Identify the challenges that could arise
• List potential solutions that would come about as a result of the project
Key components of a feasibility study

TITLE PAGE

• Name of the company/organization


• Names of the project leader
• Names of the project members along with their job titles
• The date the project is set to start
•  The estimated date for completion

Should use a clear title that provides some insights into your project
TABLE OF CONTENTS

• Provide the reader with easy access to any section within the report.
• Complete your table of contents after you finish the report to make sure
the page numbers coincide with the section titles.
HEADING

• Date (The date the report is to be published)


• To (Name of the person or company the report is addressed to)
• From (Who wrote and compiled the report)
• Subject (The topic on which the report is prepared on)
INTRODUCTION(OVERVIEW,BACKGROUND)

• Objectives
i. What is the purpose of this feasibility report?
ii. What problems motivated this report?
iii. Who initiated this feasibility report?

• Personnel
Document the names of the project team members, the liaison between the
company and other companies involved, and/or the contacts at these other
companies.
DISCUSSION(BODY, FINDINGS)

• Criteria
i. State the criteria on which recommendation is based.
ii. Should show comparison of personnel's, products, vendors, costs,
options etc.

• Analysis
i. Compare the findings against criteria.
ii. Use visual representation like table for easy access.
CONCLUSION/RECOMMENDATIONS

• Conclusion
i. State the significance of the findings.
ii. Go beyond the facts presented in the discussion.
iii. Overall summary of the report.

• RECOMMENDATIONS
i. Suggest a course of action based on the conclusion along with when they should
be taken i.e. its dates.
ii. Multiple suggestions would be more helpful.
