Types of Communication
Formal Communication

- is a communication structured on the basis of hierarchy,


authority and accountability

Informal Communication
- is relatively less structured
- refers to spontaneous communication done in a day to day
routine and casual conversation among people
Forms of Communication
• Verbal Communication
• Communication done with the use of words
• This may be either be oral or written

• Oral Communication – communication done through speaking or


message transmitted in the spoken from.
• Written Communication – Communication done through writing or
information exchanged in the written or printed form.

Nonverbal Communication
• Is a process o communication whereby people transmit meaning
through the use of actions, gestures, behavior, attitude, inanimate
objects, et...
Five Major Category of Nonverbal Communication
1. Kinesics – message transmitted with use of body movements
2. Proxemics – message transmitted wit the use of spaces
3. Haptics – message transmitted with the use of touches
4. Chronemics – message transmitted with the use of time
5. Artifacts – message transmitted with the use of objects
