pandemic enters its third year in the
Region of the Americas, the Director
of the Pan American Health
Organization (PAHO), Dr. Jarbas
Barbosa, asked the countries to
strengthen surveillance and fill gaps
in vaccination coverage to end the
emergency and better prepare for
future health crises.

FUNGUS (CANDIDA AURIS

The research, published Monday in the Annals of Internal Medicine, evaluated

the cases of Candida auris that were reported to the CDC from 2016 – when
infections of this type were first reported in the US – until 2021.

The study authors found that clinical cases have increased each year: from 53 in
2016 to 330 in 2018 and then skyrocketing from 476 in 2019 to 1,471 in 2021.

Cases of Candida auris have also spread geographically. Although the fungus
was initially confined primarily to the New York City and Chicago areas,
Candida auris is now present in more than half of the US states. Between 2019
and 2021, 17 states identified their first cases.

fungus that grows like yeast,
first described in 2009. It is
one of the few species in the
genus Candida that causes
candidiasis in humans, often
acquired in hospitals by
patients with weakened
immune systems.
SOLAR STORM

Information has been spreading on social networks indicating that an

unprecedented 'Solar Storm' will be unleashed on Sunday, April 23, which could
take humanity to the stone age due to the fact that the sun will have an increase in
activity that could result in a blackout of all technology as we know it. This news
that is going viral on social networks, in few signs, indicates that the 'Solar Storm'
would cause the internet to turn off due to the high temperatures that the
atmosphere will reach. Although the theory that 'Solar Storms' have the power to
turn off any type of technology is true, the panic generated on social networks
would be nothing more than fake news since there is no official statement from
any serious body indicating that This is what would happen on April 23. Even
NASA, which has warned on various occasions about the damage that the sun
could cause, so far has not indicated any alert regarding the alleged "Solar Storm"
on April 23.
