SOIL POLLUTION

• Soil
      Soil is dynamic natural body composed of mineral matter and
organic matter in which plant grow.

• Soil pollution
      Soil pollution is the degradation of earth's land or soil surface due to
presence of toxic chemicals in high enough concentrations to be risk to
human health,
SOURCES 0F SOIL POLLUTION
ACID RAIN
• Acid rain is caused by air
pollution .The acidic water
falls in the soil and pollutes
it by making the soil acidic.
It also removes the
minerals and nutrients
from the soil .
DEFORESTATION
• Deforestation refers to removal of a forest or trees for human
purposes.
• Once the land is converted into a dry or barren land, it can never be
made fertile again.
• So it loosens the soil .
Toxic fertilizers and pesticides
• Since , the demand of food has increased for the faster growth of
crops harmful fertilizers and pesticides are used. It contaminate and
make the soil poisonous.
Mining

• Mining involves extraction of metals which causes damages to the


environment . It causes pollution because of the large amount of slag
which is discarded for every tone of metal extracted
Landfills
• Landfills are simply the wastes those can't be recycled. One of the
most important sources of pollution in landfills is the leachate that is
generated by the decomposition of waste. Leachate can penetrate
into soil and contaminate them.
Unmanaged  irrigation system 
• The problem with unmanaged irrigation is that it affects the aeration
and salinity of your soil. It means the soil will lose valuable nitrogen
and increase the amount of salt. It also closes the passage of air to
the soil.
URBAN WASTE INDUSTRIAL WASTE 

Urban waste consists of Steel, pesticides , textiles,


garbage and rubbish materials, drugs, glass, cement, etc are
dried sludge  and sewage from produced by various industries
domestic and commercial also have adverse affect in soil
waste. pollution.
