This document discusses weathering and erosion and how they shape landscapes. It defines weathering as the breaking down of Earth's surface by factors like sun, wind, rain, and frost. The main types of weathering are freeze-thaw, onion-skin, biological, and chemical weathering. Erosion then transports and deposits the weathered material, forming landforms together with weathering and other geological processes over long periods of time. In summary, it examines the natural surface processes of weathering, erosion, transportation and deposition that sculpt the Earth's landscapes.

Landforms are features on the
Earth's surface that make up the terrain, such as mountains, valleys, plains, or plateaus. They also include coastal features, such as peninsulas or bays, and underwater features, such as ocean basins and mid-ocean ridges. Landscapes A landscape is the visible features of an area of land, its landforms, and how they integrate with natural or man-made features, often considered in terms of their aesthetic appeal. ‘Aesthetic appeal’ means a beautiful or gorgeous appearance. What Is weathering? Weathering is the breaking up or dissolving of the earth’s surface. Weathering takes place when the earth’s surface is attacked by the weather – that is, sun, wind, rain, and frost. The ways in which these factors attack the surface of the earth are the types of weathering. TYPES OF WEATHERING There are four types of weathering- Freeze-thaw weathering, onion-skin weathering, biological weathering, and chemical weathering. Freeze-thaw weathering Freeze-thaw weathering takes effect on rocks. It breaks down the rocks in these four steps. Seeds may fall into an
empty crack in a rock. The seed sprouts roots and grows into the crack, widening the crack. As the tree grows, the crack widens. Eventually, the rock will break. Chemical weathering This kind of weathering is caused by the action of water. Normal rainwater contains some amount of acid in it. When this rainwater falls on the rocks, the small amounts of acid in it attacks the rocks causing them to become chipped and crumble away. Erosion is the process that works side by side with weathering. Weathering breaks up and loosens the rocks on the earth’s surface while erosion wears away and removes the loosened material. The main types of erosion are the erosion carried out by rivers, the sea, glaciers, and wind. What is erosion? How does erosion shape the land? Weathering and erosion together make one process of removing the land. This process works along with two other processes. These three processes work together to shape the land and form beautiful sceneries called landscapes. TRANSPORTATION AND DEPOSITION TRANSPORTATION DEPOSITION Transportation is the After the eroded and process by which eroded loosened material is and loosened material is brought to another place moved from one place to by transportation, the another. This can happen material builds up or because of the action of accumulates in that place. the wind, rivers, glaciers and the sea THESE THREE PROCESSES OF EROSION, TRANSPORTATION, AND DEPOSITION ARE THE THINGS THAT SHAPE THE BEAUTIFUL LANDFORMS THAT ARE PRESENT ON EARTH TODAY FOR US TO SEE THAN MARKS RECEIVED OUT OF 20 20
