INTRODUCTION

Widowhood is the state of an individual whose spouse


has died and who has not remarried.
Women are called widows and man are called
widowers.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT?
SATI PRATHA

The practice among some Hindu communities by which a


recently widowed woman either voluntarily or by use of
force or commits suicide as a result of her husband`s death.
Prime Minister Chandra Shamsher, on his 58th birthday,
1920 AD. Ended the Sati Pratha in Nepal.
AGE

One can become widowed at any age.


Widowhood is generally associated with middle adulthood;
but it is shocking to know the huge number of young widows
in our country.
Approximately- 1 in 3 women aged 65 and older are widowed
compared with about 1 in 10 men.

Widowers are more vulnerable to depression than


widows, possibly because men are less likely to have
formed closed relationships with number of people.
CHANGES IN LIFESTYLE AFTER LOSS OF
SPOUSE
Loss of lover friend ,companion, caretaker
Loss of an audience for unguarded spontaneous conversation.
Financial problems raised .
Difficulty concentrating, withdraw and not only their
activities.

Rely on your loved ones
Take care of yourself
Volunteering
Stay busy.
PROMOTION TO UPLIFT THE
LIFESTYLE OF SINGLEHOD
Help the widow(er) to find a supportive relationship.
Build up the widows confidence and self esteem.
Encourage to try new experiences.
Involving in social activites.
Arts and Crafts(knitting,sewing,jewelry making,candle
making, pottery etc).
SOCIAL SECURITY ALLOWANCES

According to social security Allowance 2022-Widows


and unmarried (no age limit) is NPR2660 monthly.
