Istilah-istilah dalam Front Office


Room Rate
 Rack Rate/Published Rate : The rack rate is understood
to be the highest published rate a hotel can charge for a
specific room. 

 Corporate/Goverment Rate : This designation is designed


to promote the corporate/goverment market
segment. Usually corporate rate is 10% or 20% lower than
rack rate.

 Seasonal Rate : This rate depends on the season. If it’s


high season/peak season, the price will be higher. In low
season, the price will be lower.
Travelling Season
 High Season (Musim Tinggi) / Peak season (Musim puncak)
High / Peak season is a season when there are lots of tourist coming to a
tourist destination. This is a time when it a tourist destination is on the
perfect time to be visited, it can be because there is a tourism event or
it’s the perfect weather to travel. High/peak season usually happen during
school holiday, summer holiday, long weekend, public holiday, end of
year-new year celebration, religious hoiday (Christmas, Chinese New Year,
Nyepi, Idul Fitri, etc.)
The room rate in high / peak season is the highest rate in a year. There
are many tourist activity and it has the best weather to travel.
 Low Season (Musim rendah)
High season is a season when there are few tourist come to visit a
destination, it can be because there are no tourist event/activity, no
public or long holiday, or it’s not the best weather to be visited. Low season
also can be happened because there is a danger in the destination, for
example terrorism, pandemic, natural disaster, etc.
The room rate in low season is the lowest rate in a year.
Types of Accomodation
 Homestay : a vacation or other period abroad spent
staying in the home of a local family.
 Hotel : an establishment providing accommodations,
meals, and other services for travelers and tourists.
 Villa : A villa hotel is typically a spacious, self-
contained property that offers a range of amenities and
services, such as a private pool, fully-equipped kitchen,
living and dining areas, and bedrooms with en-suite
bathrooms.
 Resort : The resort hotel is a luxury facility that is
intended primarily for vacationers and is usually located
near special attractions, such as beaches and seashores,
scenic or historic areas, ski parks, or spas.

Type of Hotel Guest

 Walk-in : A guest who come and check in to the hotel without reservation
 Direct : A guest who book a room by telephone call, email, website, etc.
 FIT (Free independent Traveler) : A guest or some guests that plan, book and arrange their own trip
 GIT (Group inclusive Traveler) : A group of guests that has a group leader, can be from travel
agent/company, and get the travel agent/corporate to arrange their trip
 No show : A guest who already book a room but don’t come to the hotel and not check in
 Overflow : A situation when a hotel is fully book, but accidentally still accept reservation for the fully
book date, so the hotel needs to move the guest to another hotel.
Type of Meal

 Continental Plan : Room + Breakfast (RBF)


 European Plan : Room Only (RO)
 Full American Plan : Room + 3x Meals
 Modified American Plan :Room + 2x Meals
 6 PM Release : A reservation is not guaranteed with payment or voucher and the hotel will hold
it till 6PM in the evening
 No Show : A guests who don’t come on their arrival date
 Sleep out : A guest is registered to the room, but the bed has not been used. It can be because
the guest is staying in other place.
 Skipper : guest has left the hotel without making arrangements to settle his or her account.
 Concierge : a professional who has the first point of contact between guests and hotel.
Concierge has the responsibility to the guest’s luggage and giving guest service from arrival
until departure.
 Early Check in : a guest who will check in before check in time
 Early check out :a guest who will check out before check out time
 Late check in : a guest who will check in few hours after check in time
 Late check out : a guest who will check out few hours after check out time.
