MENDELIAN

GENETICS
1. In peas, tall is dominant over dwarf. If a plant
homozygous for tall is crossed with one homozygous
for dwarf:
a. What will be the appearance (phenotype) of the F1 plants?
b. What will be the phenotypes of the F2, and what fraction of
the offspring will have each phenotype?
c. What will be the phenotypes and fractions if an F1 plant is
crossed with its tall parent?
d. What will be the phenotypes and fractions if an F1 plant is
crossed with its short parent? 2
2. Predict the offspring in a cross between
a dwarf pea plant (homozygous recessive)
and a tall pea plant (heterozygous). What
is the phenotypic ratio of the offspring?

Given: gg - dwarf pea plant

GG - tall pea plant 3
3. 1. In tomatoes, tall vines (T) are dominant to
dwarf vines (t), and red fruit (R) is dominant to
yellow fruit (r). A farmer mates a homozygous
tall, red tomato plant (TTRR) with a
heterozygous tall, red tomato plant (TtRr).

Given: T - tall vines R- red fruit

t - dwarf vines r - yellow fruit 4
4. Cross two heterozygous Tall Black cows. Tall
is dominant over short, and Black
is dominant over white. Give the genotypic and
phenotypic ratios of offspring
and the phenotypes.

Given:
TT -Tall cows tt - short cows
BB - Black cows bb - white cows 5
5. Cross homozygous red flower gumamela to
homozygous white flower. The red flower
expresses the dominant color and the white
flower shows the recessive trait. Express the
phenotype and genotype.

R - red flower gumamela

r - white flower gumamela
