Reducing radiation and chemical safety risks

Based on the order of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 55 of
December 28, 2021 an inventory was conducted to verify and update the database throughout the country. The inventory of
sources of ionizing radiation revealed

sources - 155 used in industry - 25 used in medicine - 402

In order to verify and update the database, an inventory of ionizing radiation sources
was conducted throughout the country;
An inventory of 24 chemical substances for the creation of a National Registry was
carried out within the competence of the DREB;

Activities carried out within the framework of
cooperation with the IAEA:

• Coordination of national and regional IAEA projects

• Contribution to the IAEA Technical Cooperation Fund in the


amount of 1,822 euros was paid;
• Training on completion of electronic reports and IAEA programs
(RASIMS, PSMF, PPAR, Safeguards Portal (additional protocol)

• 21 specialists from competent ministries and agencies who were


sent for training in radiation safety and nuclear medicine through
the IAEA since June 2022 were trained;

• Report to the IAEA on the "Seventh Review Meeting of the


Contracting Parties to the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent
Fuel Management & the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management;
