15 MARCH 2017 AVIAT NETWORKS

AVIAT ADAPTIVE DUAL CHANNEL (A2C)
• Unique Dual Carrier feature supported on WTM 4100
• Utilizes second modem core to transmit second channel over single
transceiver
• Adaptive operation:
• ACM operates on both channels independently, and second channel can be
disabled to boost performance on remaining channel under poor propagation
conditions
• Doubles capacity without any increase in hardware:
• Othersystems need an additional transceiver/diplexer/coupler to double capacity
(second ODU, or a ‘double-header’ all-outdoor radio)

16 MARCH 2017 AVIAT NETWORKS

WTM 4100 ADAPTIVE DUAL CARRIER (A2C)

• Single hardware design providing two discrete

radio carriers, supporting up to 4096QAM
• Hitless switch from dual carrier to single carrier
during fade conditions
• Example:
• Operator licenses channels 1 & 3 (CH1, CH3)
• A2C uses both channels to double capacity during
un-faded conditions
• During
fades link reverts to single channel operation at
maximum Tx power
• Some restrictions:
• Single polarity operation only
• Lower maximum output power (-TBD dB), when both channels used

WTM 4000 LICENSING

• Similar approach to previous products

• Features licensed following CTR arrangements & bundles
• No media key – instead licenses will be keyed to terminal serial number
• 60-day no restrictions after re-boot:
• Thereafter, terminal falls back to licensed features, capacity, etc
• Additional licensing options to be introduced:
• Pay-for-Use (PFU) licensing
• AviatCloud license management
• Subscription-based licensing

28 MARCH 2017 AVIAT NETWORKS

PAY FOR USE (PFU) SOFTWARE – LICENSING ALTERNATIVE

• No more paying for licenses up front that you don’t

need
• Alternative to standard ’up-front’ feature licensing
scheme
• Radio ships with all software based feature licenses
enabled - you are billed periodically for only those
features enabled in the previous period
• Simplify Upgrades: easily add features or more
capacity, etc
• Simplified maintenance: if units fail, no need to issue
new/replacement licenses
• Simplified Inventory: easily deploy and move radios
around your network
