Basic Terminology
• Philip Kotler: “A product is anything that can be
offered to a market for attention, acquisition, use or
consumption. It includes physical objects, services,
personalities, place, organizations and ideas.”

• PMI - “a temporary endeavour undertaken to create


a unique product or service or result.”
Basic terminology
• PROCUREMENT is the process involved in obtaining or sourcing
something that is needed. Businesses procure supplies and raw
materials, while governments may procure contractors or
service providers.

• PROJECT PROCUREMENT is the creation and maintenance of


relationships with external resources (contractor and/or
consultants) needed to complete a project.

• PRODUCT PROCUREMENT is the process of purchasing goods


and/or services and usually in reference to a business spending

The main difference between Project procurement and

life- cycle. Project procurement aims to manage
supplier relationships, risk mitigation, lowering costs
and contract compliance.
