Learning Objectives
Upon the completion of this session and the activities
therein, students are expected to:
define purposive communication;
demonstrate an understanding of the key ideas in
language and communication; and
appreciate the importance of purposive communication by
writing a three paragraph essay about the significance of
this subject and their expectations in this course.
What is Communication?

➯ Purposive communication is defined as a type of
communication that takes place with a purpose in mind.
➯ It is the spreading of a message of communication or an
idea to a specific group of audiences in the best-suited
formats and through the right channels.
➯ An intentional communication that happens within the
bounds of specific contexts.
