Lam-Ang and Gilgamesh are both a product of Oral Histories/stories
passed as traditions, or Oral traditions. These Epics were recited by
lore-keepers in the antiquity, these lore-keepers/reciters of are
revered by their audiences.

Similarly, in our time these lore-keepers or orators can be thought of


as the Public speakers. Their practice of Epic recitation can be
categorized as Public speaking in our times.

These two practices and traditions are “Two sides of the same coin”
Five Factors of Public Speaking

1. Communicator - the speaker, or the transmitter


2. Message - what the communicator is saying, or the content
3. Audience - to whom the communicator is speaking, or the
receivers.
4. Medium - how the communicator is delivering the message,
or the channel.
5. Effect - the consequence or the result of delivering the
message.

Persuasive Texts
In literature, authors use persuasive
texts to make readers agree with
their point of view or their message.
Explanations, discussions,
dissertations, and even
advertisements are persuasive texts.
Commonly it has three parts:
A statement of Position The Chorus
Three arguments
Verses
supporting the main Idea
Reiteration of original Ending chorus or
statement of position. “Coda”
Generally, Persuasive Texts are used to
change minds, move hearts, motivate,
make us come to a decision.
