WHAT ACTUALLY IS COVID-19 ?
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared
the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) a
pandemic.
A pandemic is defined as “occurring over a wide
geographic area and affecting an exceptionally high
proportion of the population.”
On 31 December 2019, a cluster of cases of
pneumonia of unknown cause, in the city of Wuhan,
Hubei province in China, was reported to the World
Health Organisation.
This novel coronavirus was named Coronavirus
Disease 2019 (COVID-19) by WHO in February
2020.The virus is referred to as SARS-CoV-2 and the
associated disease is COVID-19.
The lockdown in the whole nation was announced
on 23rd March 2020 to curb the spread of this deadly
disease.
The nation switched to digital platforms including
the education sector at the end. 2

DISADVANTAGES
• Covid pandemic has affected educational systems
worldwide, leadings to near total closures of schools ,
educational institutions so on.
• Most Governments decided to temporarily close
educational institutions in an attempt to reduce this
spread
• Unprepared teachers or students for the online
educations
• Reduced employment opportunities
• Increased more responsibility for parents to educate
their wards.

CONCLUSION
Covid 19 has impacted immensely to the education sector of India. Though it
has created many challenges, where as opportunities are also involved. The
Indian Government and different stake-holders of education has explored the
possibility of open and distance learning.
