Did you know that in the Philippines…

In 2019, MSMEs generated a total of 5,510,760 jobs or


62.4% of the country’s total employment. The micro
enterprises produced the biggest share (29.8%) closely
followed by small enterprises (25.2%) while medium
enterprises were far behind at 7.4%. Meanwhile, large
enterprises generated a total of 3,315,575 jobs or 37.6% of
the country’s overall employment.

2. ASEAN ( Association of Southeast Asian Nations )
o Established on August 8 , 1967
o is an organization of countries in southeast Asia set up to promote

cultural, economic and political development in the region


o TAC ( Treaty of Amity and Cooperation ) – signed during first

ASEAN Summit February 24 , 1976

The Association represents the collective will of the


nations to blind themselves together in friendship and
cooperation and , through joint efforts and sacrifices ,
secure for their peoples and for prosperity the
blessings of peace , freedom and prosperity.

3. AFTA ( ASEAN Free Trade Area )
o Initiated on the 4th ASEAN Summit in Singapore in

January 1992
o  is a trade bloc agreement by the Association of Southeast

Asian Nations supporting local manufacturing in all ASEAN countries

The primary goals of AFTA seek to:


 Increase ASEAN's competitive edge as a production base in the

world market through the elimination, within ASEAN, of tariffs and


non-tariff barriers
 Attract more foreign direct investment to ASEAN
4.APEC
( Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation)
o Isthe premier forum for facilitating economic growth ,
cooperation , trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region
o Non-biding commitments , open dialogue and equal respect

for the views of all participants


o Had 21 members referred to as member economies.
o Established in 1989
o to further enhance economic growth and prosperity for the

region and to strengthen the Asia-Pacific community .
