• Namakkal District is a Historic Town. It derives from
Namagiri which is located at the center of the town.
• Namakkal District was bifurcated from Salem District on 1st
Jan’1997.
• It has 2 Revenue Division viz Namakkal & Tiruchengodu and
4 Taluks viz Namakkal, Rasipuram, Tiruchengodu and
Paramathi-Velur.
• Namakkal is very famous for Bus Body Building units and
Poultry forms. It is the 2nd largest poultry industry in India.
• Area - 3,429 Sq.km
• Population - 17,21,179 (2011 censes)

•Namakkal Anjaneyar Kovil - 1 km
Life size Hanuman statue is 18’feet height carved out of a single stone and stands under open sky.

•Namakkal Fort (opp: to Bus stand)

The single rock is 65 meters high and more than a kilometer in circumference. It is called Tippu Sultan Fort.

•Arthanareeswarar Temple at Tiruchengodu – 38 km

It is located on the small hill. The main deity is 6 feet in height, the right half of the image as male and left
half of the image as female. Hence, it is known as Arthanareeswarar.

•Agaram Sendraya Perumal Temple – Elachipalayam - 30 km

It is located on the river bank of the Tirumani Mutharu. This temple has Swasthik Chakara.

The hills are about 1000 to 1300 mtr height and cover an area of nearly 280 sq.km. It has 7 hairpin bends to
