POST-PLANTING PRACTICES
After pre-planting we have post planting which is
the series of activities carried out in a farm
between the period of planting and harvesting.
Weeding is the removal of unwanted
plants.

Supplying is the replacement of


dead seedlings so as not to allow
the creation of unnecessary space.
Fertilization is the process of
applying fertilizer to the crops to
enhance the efficiency of the
crops.

Thinning is the removal of some


plants, or parts of plants, to make
room for the growth of other
plants.
Prunning is a horticultural which
involves the selective removal of
certain parts of a plant.eg the bud,
branch or roots

Mulching is a method of soil


conservation in which the bare
ground between plants is covered
with a layer of organic matter like
straw. It helps to retain soil
moisture.
Staking is the process of supporting
a plant with a stake.

Trimming is the cutting of the


leaves of the plant to give it a
specific shape.

Irrigation is the process of


applying controlled amounts of
water to plants at intervals.
Fumigation is a method of
controlling pests in the farm.

Harvesting is the act of


removing a mature crop from
where it was growing and
moving it for further processing
