INTRODUCTION
The automatic air suspension system is an air-
operated, Microprocessor controlled suspension
system.

This system replaces the conventional coil spring

suspension and provides  automatic front and rare
load leveling .The air bags ,Made of rubber and
plastic, support the vehicle load at the front and rare
wheels.

Sir william Brush is the father of suspension

system in  Automobiles.
ROLE OF AIR
SUSPENSION SYSTEM
The main role of air suspension system are as follows:
A.it supports the weight of vehicle.
B. provides smoother ride for the driver and passengers i.e acts as cushion
C. protects your vehicle for damage and wear .
D.it also plays a critical role in maintaining  self driving conditions
E. it also keeps the wheels pressed firmly to the ground for traction
F. it isolates the body from road shocks and vibrations otherwise be transferred to the
passengers and load
PRINCIPLE   OF  AIR
SUSPENSION
Principle:-
when a tire hits an obstruction, there is a reaction force. The size of the
reaction force depends on the unsprung mass at each wheel assembly.

In general, the larger the ratio of sprung weight to unsprung

weight, the less the body and vehicles occupants are affected by pumps, dips, and
other surface imperfections such as small bridges. A large sprung weight to unsprung
weight ratio can also impact vehicle control.
COMPONENTS  OF  AIR
SUSPENSION
There are three
fundamental
components of air
suspension system.

Height control valve
The air supply Air  bags
s
AIR  SUPPLY
The air supply system consist of the engine compressor ,the air tanks , air valves and air lines.

The engine air compressor supplies air equipment on the vehicle .

The pressure delivery by the compressor varies .

For several years ,the air supply was maintained around 120 to 125psi but on some new vehicles this been improved to 135 psi.

Dash gauges are present that will supply system pressure information but all vehicles have what we say toas a "pop off valve".

You can get the valve "pop off " when the system reaches the maximum air pressure.
                      AIR SUPPLY
AIR  BAGS
They are simple rubber bladder
that holds air.

Air bags are also mentioned to as

air bellows. the air bags are
located in the middle of the
vehicle axles .

Air bags are estimated for weight

and pressure capacities.
HEIGHT  CONTROL  VALVE
i. Most of the HCV are mechanical valves but electronic height control mechanism
are also available.
ii. The HCV is fastened to the frame of the vehicle. An L shaped  linkage attaches the
HCV to the axle.
iii. As the axle moves up and down  in relationship to the frame, the linkage travels
the valve or electronic mechanism.
iv. With mechanism valves ,there is an airline from the air supply to the HCV.
v. There is an airline from the HCV to the air bag or bags that it controls.

WORKING
OF AIR •Shock absorbers and coil springs help absorb
and direct road force, maintaining wheel
SUSPENSI oscillation , jounce and rebound . The air spring
springs are simply tough rubber and plastic

bags inflated to a certain pressure and height to
mimic the coil springs.

front and rare axle .
ADVANTAGES
•These maintain a constant frequency of vibration whether the vehicle is laden or
unladen.
•Contact frame height is maintained.
•It help to reduce the load while the vehicle in motion i.e. the dynamic loading a the
spring rate variation between laden and unladen weight is must less .
•It gives smooth and comfort ride to the vehicle.
•The stiffness of the system increases with increase  with the increase of the deflection.
CONCLUSION

From the whole discussion in suspension system, I observe that suspension system is like a white blood cell. As  white blood
cell provides energy to body  to fight against diseases or viruses which try to destroy or try to decrease the life , in similar way
SUSPENSION SYSTEM  provides the energy to vehicle to protect itself from damaging, increase the comfort of passengers
and many more.

So if we remove the suspension system, then it feel like in bull cart in luxurious carts. The only difference is speed.
