PREPARING MULTIMEDIA

PRESENTATION
In today’s digital society, communication is
mediated using technology. For communication to
be more effective, it is imperative to know how
technology works, what purposes it can serve and
how it can be used efficiently and effectively. It is
important to consider the following;
MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION

• It consists of a set of media objects (such as


images, text, objects, video clips, and audio
streams) presented in accordance with
various constraints specifying when the
object should be presented on a screen.
CHARACTERISTICS OF
MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATIONS

Multimedia presentations
are visually oriented
(displayed on a monitor or
projected on a screen).
THEY ALLOW USERS TO USE DIFFERENT
MODALITIES SUCH AS:

• TEXT

PHOTOGRAPHS
• AUDIO

• ANIMATION
• VIDEO 4
TEXT
• It is the most basic component of multimedia.
Texts are alphanumeric characters used for
presenting information such as this
description. Texts can be made quite
creatively and distinctively by using fonts,
font colors, or special effects such as shadow,
bouncing or fading.
GRAPHICS
• It refers to the digital form of image, drawing or a
photograph. Some common graphic files are TIFF
(Tagged Image File Format) • PNG (Portable
Network Graphics) • JPEG (Joint Photographic
Experts Group) • GIF (Graphics Interface Format)
• BMP (Bitmap) This medium can be used with
text to provide a better clearer information.
PHOTOGRAPHS

•It is a visual representation of


something. An image or a picture
that has been created or copied
and stored in electronic form.
AUDIO

•It refers to music, speech or any other


form of digital sound. There are
different types/formats of sound such
as WAV, MP3. (MPEG-1, MPEG-2,
Audio Layer 3) are referred as MP3.
VIDEO
• It is the most advanced and effective medium for
presenting information. It presents the movement
of sequence of real images or real event. Video
features both sound and picture media. It is one of
the best way to present information in short time.
It is usually retained longer in the memory.

1. KNOW THE PURPOSE OF THE
PRESENTATION.
2. KNOW THE AUDIENCE.
3. GATHER INFORMATION.
4. USE A VARIETY OF RESOURCES
SUCH AS: TEXTBOOKS, DIGITAL
RESOURCES AND INTERNET.
5. DO NOT FORGET TO CITE SOURCES

A. WRITE THE AUTHOR’S NAME, TITLE OF THE


WORK AND DATE OF PUBLICATION.
B. INCLUDE THE WEBSITE OR WEB PAGE
ADDRESS OF THE SOURCE.
C. ASK THE AUTHOR’S PERMISSION TO USE SUCH
MATERIALS.
D. ALWAYS HAVE FULL BIBLIOGRAPHIC
REFERENCES FOR ALL CITATIONS.
