INTRODUCTION
Sanjay Van is the one of the largest forest area in the Delhi

largest green spaces, providing a vital ecological buffer amid
the urban landscape. This natural sanctuary is home to a
diverse range of flora and fauna, contributing significantly to
the city's biodiversity and ecosystem health.
HISTORY
 The history of Sanjay Van can be traced back to ancient times
when the region around Delhi was home to various settlements
and civilizations. Over the centuries, the area underwent
numerous changes, and the forest witnessed different rulers and
dynasties that held sway over Delhi.
 During the medieval period, when Delhi was under the rule of
various dynasties like the Tomars, Chauhans, and the Delhi
Sultanate, the region around Sanjay Van likely played a role in
supporting agricultural activities and provided wood and other
natural resources for the city's development.
 It has been notified as a reserved forest under Section 4 of
the Indian Forest Act, 1927.
 In more recent times, Sanjay Van has become a popular
recreational spot for Delhi's residents, offering walking
trails, picnic areas, and a natural escape from the urban
hustle. Conservation initiatives have been implemented to
safeguard the biodiversity of the forest and maintain its
ecological balance.

EXPERIENCE
 We spent almost Three hours here, walking between the trees, birdwatching (we
saw and heard lots of species, including barbets, babblers, peafowl,
woodpeckers,Dogs and lots of butterflies and other insects. The butterflies,
especially, were worth it all.

Sanjay Van is really large, so you could spend the entire day here and still not
see all of it. But even a couple of hours here is a good respite from the bustle and
din of the city outside. Note that since this is a reserve forest and not your
typical city park, there are no facilities for food and drink inside (though there
are toilets near the gate). Bring your own packed food and bottled water, and
remember to use the dustbins provided here and there to dispose of any waste.
CONCLUSION
 Sanjay Van forest in Delhi, India, is a cherished
green sanctuary amidst the city's urban landscape.
With historical landmarks, diverse biodiversity,
and recreational opportunities, it offers a tranquil
escape for residents and visitors alike. As an urban
forest, Sanjay Van serves as a vital reminder of the
need to preserve nature within our bustling cities.
