Gateway Drugs
• Tobacco: Cigarettes and other tobacco products
are often considered a gateway drug, as tobacco
use during adolescence is believed to increase the
risk of later substance abuse, including alcohol and
illicit drugs.
Gateway Drugs
• Alcohol is another substance that is frequently
associated with being a gateway drug. Many
individuals who develop substance abuse
problems with other drugs often have a history
of alcohol use.
Be smart,
do not start!
• According to the study done the National Youth
Commission (NYC), two (2) out of five (5) Filipino
tenagers aged 13 to 15 years old smoke cigarettes.

• In study conducted by an anti-tabacco group in the year


2011, 10 Filipinos die every hour because of tabacco-related
diseases.
