Unit 1: Introduction to Elementary Education

Definition of Elementary Education
Elementary Education, also
called primary education, the first stage
traditionally found in formal education,
beginning at about age 5 to 7 and ending
at about age 11 to 13.
Aims of Elementary Education
After Elementary Education Students will be able to:
• Confident- who can judge right and  wrong, can think on his own,
reasons and can communicate
• Active Contributor- who innovates, works well with teams and learns
to contribute and exercises,  and strive towards excellence
• Self directed learner- who questions and explores, perseveres and
takes responsibility for his own learning
• A concerned citizen- who is concerned about his country, has strong
sense of civic responsibility and takes an active part in betterment of
people around him.
Nature of Elementary Education
The elementary curriculum typically includes Urdu, English, regional
languages, mathematics, science, social studies, and Islamiat. The
middle school curriculum features the same subjects as the elementary
curriculum, but additional languages like Arabic or Persian may be
introduced.
Significance of Elementary Education
The elementary school lays the foundation for teamwork and group
activities, which are crucial for a child's self-improvement. A sense of
regard for others will develop when students take part in group
activities that promote teamwork.
