Chapter 1:
RESEARCH BACKGROUND
Among the various conducting polymers made from organic materials,
polyaniline is a type of conducting polymer with high stability, low cost of
synthesis, and high electrical conductivity. The most common and easy
polymerization method to do is chemical oxidative polymerization. In this
method, most researchers use freezing temperatures or ice to obtain a more
conductive polymer.
Therefore a method is needed to control the temperature of the solution to be
constant at 0-4 ℃. In this study a tool was designed to monitor pH and
temperature in the polymerization reaction process using the pH-4502C sensor
and the DS18B20 sensor which is integrated with nodeMCU and can be accessed
via the internet using the Blynk app. This tool is equipped with a Styrofoam box
and ice cubes as a cooling material to keep the temperature within the range of 0-
4 ℃. The system measures pH and temperature, and sends the data to blynk and
monitors it via smartphone.

Conclusion
An IoT-based monitoring system for polyaniline polymerization reactions at 0-4 ℃, was
1 created by starting with designing the end device, setting up the nodeMCU program using
the Arduino IDE, and connecting it to the blynk application using an internet connection.
The test results that have been carried out by the DS18B20 sensor and pH-4502C sensor
2 have a good accuracy of 98.745% for the DS18B20 temperature sensor and an accuracy
of 99.783% for the pH-4502C sensor.
