Blue whales

Blue whales are the largest mammals in the world.

They are beautiful huge blue creatures.
Stunning blue whales are able to breathe air, but they are cozy
in the oceans waters.
The blue whales’ tongues weigh 4 tons.
These mammals are found in all the world’s oceans
and usually swim in small groups or alone.
These giant creatures eat teeny Krill, look like shrimp. They eat about 4
tons of Krill every day. Whales eat only in summer. They eat almost
nothing for about 8 mounts a year. They survive by gaining fat.
The sleep of blue whales is very short, about two or
three minutes.
Only a few thousand blue whales swim in the world’s oceans.
They were hunted for many years for their blubber and oil, and they were
almost hunted to extinction, and now scientists consider them to be endangered
species.
With the increase in cargo transportation, ships are dangerous to whales in California and
worldwide.
Orcas are their only natural predators.
A pod of orcas has been observed hunting and
eating the blue whale on the coast of Australia.
BLUE WHALES might be surprised, because some
of the scientists are looking out for them.
The United States is developing a system that detects endangered blue whales.
They use acoustic and heat sensors and notify nearby boat captains. The goal
is to reduce accidents between big ships and whales in California's Santa
Barbara Channel.
But it'll help blue whales if captains of large ships
listen to warnings and slow their boats.
Now I would like to remind you, we have to protect our planet
by not destroying it, but by taking care of it.
