Information Technology has a huge impact on Popular
Culture or Pop Culture, through many aspects of media,
entertainment, information and many more.

Pop culture refers to popular culture whether in movies,

music, games, and social media. It is the popularity of a
certain genre, topic or trends in each given generation.

 Some of the more memorable pop culture movies are those
with higher quality vfx, cgi, and animation, accompanied by
good story telling, such as the Star Wars and Star Trek
franchises, the Back to the Future franchise as well as many
animated releases such as Spirited Away, Toy Story, Coraline,
Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and many
more, that were made possible due to the advancement in
Information Technology.

Movies

1. Adobe Premiere Pro – is among the most used video editing

software in Hollywood film industry.
2. Final Cut Pro – also a video editing software used by
Hollywood.
3. Avid Media Composer – an editing software popularly used by
Netflix.
4. Autodesk Maya – used by animators to train 3D artists, one of
the most common animation software. Etc..
Synth-pop, sometimes referred to as electro-pop, stems from
the electronic music of the 1970s which used computer
generated audio to create music. Through the advancement
in Information Technology, new programs have been
developed to improve the quality of music over the years.
More development of new devices and programs to assist
artists and producers in creating music has appeared in
todays culture.

1. Audacity – considered to be the best and most used software

for audio editing.
2. Adobe Audition – one of the best music recording software
developed by Adobe.
3. FL Studio – is a music production software that mainly
focuses on making music from nothing.
4. Studio One – also a popular software for music making, that
offers a wide variety of feature, and offers virtual instruments.

Over the years, video games had the biggest impact in pop
culture history. In 1972, Pong became the first video game
pop-culture phenomenon. This was followed by Pac-Man
in 1980. Other video games labeled as pop-culture
phenomena include Final Fantasy, Halo, Metal Gear, The
Legend of Zelda, Tomb Raider, Grand Theft Auto, Call of
Duty, World of Warcraft, an the iconic Mario games.

been considered as the best for new developers.

Communication has become easier and more accessible in
recent years, due to the development of social media
platforms and communication sites. Social media has
become one of the biggest influences in pop culture as
well as our lives, they gather information on the latest
trends, and makes instant communication possible. All
because of the advancement in Information Technology
which propelled new ideas and new developments.
