• A chatbot originally chatterbot is
a software application that aims to mimic
human conversation through text or voice
interactions, typically online Modern
chatbots are artificial intelligence(AI)
systems that are capable of maintaining a
conversation with a user in natural
language and simulating the way a human
would behave as a conversational partner.
Such technologies often utilize aspects
of deep learning and natural language
processing

TYPES OF CHATBOT

• RETRIVEAL BASE MODEL :-

Retrieval-based models emphasize learning general techniques for finding and connecting information from the
available resources. With facts stored as text, the retrieval knowledge store can be efficiently updated or expanded by
modifying the text corpus, all while the model’s capacity for finding and using information remains constant.

• GENERATIVE BASE MODEL :-

A generative model includes the distribution of the data itself, and tells you how likely a given example is. For
example, models that predict the next word in a sequence are typically generative models (usually much simpler than
GANs) because they can assign a probability to a sequence of words.
DEVLOPMENT OF CHATBOT

Among the most notable early chatbots are ELIZA (1966) and PARRY (1972). More recent notable programs
include A.L.I.C.E.  Jabberwocky  and D.U.D.E Nationale de la Recherche and CNRS 2006. While ELIZA and PARRY
were used exclusively to simulate typed conversation, many chatbots now include other functional features, such as
games and web searching abilities. In 1984, a book called The Policeman's Beard is Half Constructed was published,
allegedly written by the chatbot Racter (though the program as released would not have been capable of doing so.
ADVANTAGES

• One of the biggest advantages is that chatbots are available 24 hours a day to help customers. In
addition, they respond quickly to all the questions they receive. This guarantees two very important
things for almost all companies:
• Satisfied customers with immediate responses and resolutions
• Human agents focused on more important tasks and without work overload due to excessive
consultations during non-working hours
DISADVANTAGES

• They need maintenance from time to time

• Chatbots need constant revisions, maintenance, and optimization in terms of their knowledge base and the way they
should communicate with customers. The chatbot needs to be fed new and meaningful data (i.e. content) that can
answer customer questions and queries.
